boom and we're live what's up brother how are you man joe rogan i am so happy

0:08

to be here i'm so

0:10

happy to see you fuck you've gone through a journey oh man since the last time

0:15

i seen is

0:15

yesterday was one year from your heart transplant anniversary exactly wow one

0:21

year and joe if i

0:24

told you it was easy i'd be lying but man it was so worth the journey and ain't

0:30

even funny what does

0:31

it feel like right now like have another person's heart in your body what does

0:35

that feel like well

0:35

a lot of times it feels like i actually did die and this is just a dream that i'm

0:40

living right now

0:42

yep wow this this is uh i think this this would be my heaven you look great you're

0:48

still jacked

0:49

no no you're not losing any weight oh yeah yeah yeah but i mean you still you're

0:54

still jacked you still

0:55

got muscles uh you know it's it's such a a fall from where i was you know i

1:01

really appreciate that

1:03

though but uh i i you know i look at myself now and it's just a you know

1:08

fragment of what i used to be

1:10

but you know i'm still here that's what's so important to me man well the

1:13

ridiculous thing you

1:15

were doing you're making videos of you're working out like getting ready and

1:19

after your heart heart

1:21

operation this you have a heart transplant and you're running in a parking lot

1:26

you trip and fall

1:27

i'm like jesus man slow down yeah yeah i got a lot of that you just decided

1:32

that you were just

1:34

going to start pushing from the beginning well uh actually uh my brain was

1:39

ready but my body wasn't

1:42

did they warn you about doing that did they say it was okay they told me that

1:46

you know they gave me

1:48

permission to walk and you know me i'm like i've walked shit i can run yeah at

1:53

least my mind said i

1:56

could run right what does it feel like though like when you like what is the

2:00

difference between the way

2:02

your heart feels now uh it's night and day you know before i got the uh

2:07

transplant it had got

2:08

really bad you know really bad i had a flat line two more times uh you know

2:15

before the actual

2:16

transplant and it was i couldn't go through one another flat line i mean that

2:20

would have been

2:21

it but uh the difference now i mean it feels uh when you say flat line like

2:26

your heart stopped yes

2:27

uh-huh yeah whoa and what did they do to start it back up again okay um after i

2:32

had this last heart

2:33

attack um they asked me to say mr fisher do you want to us to put in a pacemaker

2:38

and i mean i thought

2:40

about it a lot because my brother my older brother walt had a pacemaker

2:45

installed before he passed away

2:47

and his pacemaker was actually going off uh when he when he died so i'm like

2:52

man it didn't really do

2:54

any good for him so i was like going back and forth and then you know just uh

2:59

something voice said yeah

3:00

go ahead and get it and so i told me i put it in the pacemaker saved me wow so

3:05

it went flat like so

3:07

your heart gave up and then the what does the pacemaker do exactly it's like a

3:11

defibrillator you

3:12

know like they have the paddles that give you electric shock you know that's

3:15

that's what the

3:16

pacemaker does just gives you a little yeah it's on the inside uh you know

3:20

inside and it's connected

3:21

directly to your heart wow and that sucker flat lines it gives you a jolt wow

3:27

yeah did you feel it

3:29

no no i was i was dead until we say when you're dead you don't feel nothing man

3:36

so you'd blacked out too

3:37

oh uh it's not a blackout or uh like you doze off when you're sleeping death is

3:46

totally different totally

3:49

different and you i knew that i was dead before i i died before a flat line it

3:56

was just me and my wife

3:58

and at home and i was talking to her just like i'm talking to you and the next

4:03

thing all the lights

4:05

went out it was like uh one of those old-fashioned tvs i don't know if you're

4:09

old enough to remember

4:10

uh these black and white tvs yeah yeah that's exactly how it was just a tiny

4:15

pulp tiny pinprick of

4:18

life yeah and you know that that's it wow it's no you know you you absolutely

4:24

know that this is it

4:26

and it's not you know this is the irreversible and you you know that it's this

4:32

is death and not just

4:33

you're not just dozing off yeah you know did you have a near-death experience i

4:38

i everything

4:40

um the only thing you have the only thing i had time to say was i had time to

4:47

uh call my wife's name

4:49

but i mean when they say things rush you know everything's like this is it this

4:53

is it you know

4:54

you're not gonna be able to do this anymore you're not gonna be this is it this

4:58

is it the final

4:58

finalization of everything hits you like you the you know this is it you know

5:05

this is the final thing

5:07

this is your last moment on earth and you know it it's clear and i'm like what

5:12

do you do be you know

5:14

all i could do was say my wife's name and that was it that was it so the the

5:18

pacemaker kicks in and

5:20

then you come back online it was yeah and it was so that's a damn good

5:26

description i mean it was like

5:28

i thought i felt like that i had been asleep um for hours it was the best most

5:37

peaceful

5:39

restful time of my entire life wow and in just a short moment it felt like i

5:45

had been asleep you

5:47

know for eight hours so rested so well rested so wow and my wife told me you

5:51

know it's just a short

5:52

period of time but it felt like i had been asleep for eight hours so this

5:56

happened twice yes the second

5:58

time was in the hospital oh yeah wow so they tell you okay mr fletcher we have

6:05

a heart for you yeah

6:07

they call me like 2 40 in the morning i think it was so you have to get in

6:12

there right now is that

6:13

how no no i had hours uh before i had to actually be at the hospital i said be

6:18

be at the hospital i think

6:20

like six or seven that morning yeah and then you're thinking oh boy uh i was

6:26

happy and sad when i got the

6:29

call i was happy for myself um because i didn't think i could go through

6:34

another flat line but i was sad for

6:37

the donor and the donor's family yeah i knew somebody had to pass away in order

6:41

for me to get that heart

6:42

so i felt real bad about that so they put it in you you wake up what does that

6:50

feel like

6:51

um it felt like uh

6:56

um being born again a rebirth another try another go at life

7:02

wow yeah i get another start another chance at it my set ain't over

7:10

wow so from the moment this they have to open you up right oh yeah they do that

7:17

chest spreader thing

7:18

and uh and what is all that like well uh of course i you were out yeah but when

7:25

you wake up and you look

7:26

down you're covered with stitches right i mean it must be a giant scar right

7:29

you know what they it's

7:31

they are so good now though that you know i i have a scar but consider that

7:37

this is my second time being

7:39

split open you know the first time uh in 05 when they uh put a metal valve in

7:44

uh i flat line during that

7:47

uh operation three times on you know on the table during the the operation

7:52

itself uh so

7:54

me and flat line you know five flat lines i think i'm at my limit man

7:59

wow so um i seen the scars they had to take the pace the pacemaker out they

8:05

took the metal valve out

8:06

of the well they took the the old heart had the metal valve in it so they took

8:09

the old heart out

8:10

they put in a new heart and uh it's just man it's uh unbelievable because

8:16

before a shower would kill

8:18

me if i took a shower i'd be done for the rest of the day a shower yeah a

8:22

shower would kill me for the

8:24

rest of the day and i had a seat in the shower you know uh how would a shower

8:29

kill you oh man it was

8:31

that that amount of physical activity and you know uh how you know people take

8:36

taking a shower for granted

8:38

but that amount of physical activity would kill me i'd be wiped out just for

8:44

washing yourself yes for the

8:46

rest of the day man it was so you were hanging by us well yeah definitely

8:51

definitely it was you know

8:52

kill me you know and my wife was opening jars for me yeah here i am former

8:58

bench press world champion

9:01

and i got my wife hey baby could you open this jelly jar for me wow yeah it's

9:05

uh humbling humbling very

9:07

big time big time how long did you have to stay in the hospital for um we went

9:12

in the hospital

9:13

not very long i mean we got out of uh we went straight to in intensive care

9:18

they keep you there

9:19

for like three days but i think i was probably released um within two weeks

9:27

total wow yeah and then

9:30

are you using a walker are you walking fine like i wouldn't say i was walking

9:36

fine but i was walking

9:37

just walking slowly oh big time big time slowly yeah i was crawling along wow

9:45

and how long did it take

9:47

to you for you to get to where you're at like now like now i'd have no idea

9:51

that you had a heart

9:52

transplant really well i appreciate that no when i saw you i mean you look very

9:57

happy oh i am happy you

9:59

look like like you're glowing i'm extremely happy just to be alive when you

10:05

come that close to dying

10:08

i mean every day is just a blessing man if people ask me how you doing ct i'm

10:14

blessed man i'm sorry i

10:16

got no complaints legitimately blast oh yes no complaints whatsoever man i'm

10:21

doing i see i want to

10:21

see i want to hug joe i'm so happy to see you i'm so happy to see you too man i'm

10:27

alive wow because we

10:29

you know last time i was on we talked about um me needing a transplant and i

10:33

needed the transplant and

10:35

now i'm back i had it and the first uh six months were rough yeah the first six

10:42

months after it was like how

10:44

so uh the jelly jar opening the jelly jar just not being able to do you know

10:51

normal things i um

10:54

the first thing i tried to do was walk so they had me walk around i guess a

10:58

city block and then a city

11:00

block joe when i first tried to walk around a city block i'd have to stop

11:05

probably 12 13 times

11:08

and take a seat and get up and try to walk and it was it was killing me man my

11:14

you know my wife would

11:16

slow down she'd slow down and walk with me and i see you know it was such a

11:22

struggle and i'm like you

11:23

know what i don't give a damn how long it take me i'm gonna make it and i'm

11:28

gonna make it so just keep

11:30

keep going and what kind of activity are you out able to do now a year later i

11:34

i am uh lifting again but

11:37

very lightly i'm able to do you know the machine and stuff from the tin uh i

11:41

think i've been able to

11:42

do that for the last uh two months so when you say lightly is this by doctor's

11:48

orders oh yeah the doctor

11:50

i can't do anything you know without them approving it first yeah except the

11:54

run in the parking lot

11:55

they didn't approve yeah my mind was like oh yeah you can do it my body was

12:01

like leave me out this

12:03

yeah so what what holds you back in terms of like lifting weights like why do

12:08

you have to go light

12:10

my strength is just nowhere near what it used to be the strength is still you

12:14

know i can tell that uh

12:16

you know i have a long way to go but you know just to be able to do anything so

12:21

i get i get in there

12:22

and do it i do what i can that's what i tell people all the time man if you can't

12:27

uh you know do what

12:28

you want to do at least get in there and do what you can do yeah it's better

12:32

than doing nothing yeah

12:33

so now do they have you on medication to make sure that the heart doesn't get

12:39

rejected by your body

12:41

most definitely and people are out there who've had transplants i know that

12:45

they're like oh man yeah

12:47

i take about 21 different medications every day yeah 21 different medication

12:54

and what are the side

12:55

effects of the stuff um they used to be worse but now you know my uh feet are

13:01

swollen pretty much every

13:04

day um something uh in the medicaid kind of kicks my arthritis i have arthritis

13:10

too so it kind of kicks

13:11

in the toes are stiff you know and pretty much every day but when i compare the

13:17

side effects to the

13:19

what could possibly happen which is death the side effects ain't i'll take them

13:25

now will you have to take this medication forever uh it gets less less and less

13:31

when i go back

13:32

this month back up to palo alto where they did the transplant um they're going

13:37

to take off about

13:38

four or five different medications so i'm a year out now they less and then the

13:42

further you get out

13:43

the less medication and thinking eventually we'll get down to two or three but

13:47

you'll always have to

13:48

take something oh yeah definitely and is this because your body doesn't

13:52

understand why it has someone's

13:53

heart in it um for a while that's that in the beginning like that's well i'm

13:58

taking 21 now it's because

14:00

you know uh to keep the chances of rejection down why why do bodies reject do

14:06

they understand that yeah

14:08

it wasn't the one that she was born with right it's a foreign you know a

14:13

foreign heart and i really want

14:14

to talk to you about that heart what i know about it um it's a woman's heart

14:18

right yeah so you know

14:20

you know already i thought i was gonna drop a bomb on you no i'm following you

14:24

he knows very good

14:25

yeah but i tell you that that threw me for a loop yeah and i was you know you

14:34

know i'm always talking

14:35

about how strong my faith is and you know i'm i'm faith faith faith faith man

14:42

the super man of faith

14:44

uh and i have so much faith to nothing can't faze me you know i went into the

14:49

operation hey i'll see

14:51

you guys on the other side of this because you know i got i know i'm gonna be

14:55

all right i got so

14:56

much faith that you know i'm gonna get through this so i'm gonna see you guys

15:00

but when the doctor came

15:01

in and told me that i had a woman's heart that socked the shit out of my face

15:07

wow because i had done study

15:10

you know i looked you know studied on this the the survival rate of male to

15:16

female

15:16

and it wasn't good the studies i had read wasn't good when they do uh female to

15:22

male i'm sorry female

15:22

to male the train it's not good and i was like everything i had read said it's

15:27

not a good thing

15:28

the doctor comes in and says yep you got a woman's heart and she wasn't that

15:32

much younger than you are

15:34

i went that that you know yeah tested my faith big time how did she die i have

15:43

no idea i have no idea

15:45

but um the thing i have feelings i i haven't talked to the family i would love

15:54

to i don't know anything

15:55

about it but i have these feelings and i really would like to know if what i'm

16:01

feeling is right

16:03

you know i really want to meet the family and let them you know let them know

16:08

that i'm out here doing

16:09

everything i can to raise donor awareness and that their mother or their wife

16:14

or their sister or their

16:15

aunt didn't die in vain and then i'm doing my absolute best to carry on and let

16:20

people know that you know

16:22

she was a donor and that it's so utterly important for people to donate to give

16:28

the gift of life what

16:29

are these feelings that you're having i have feelings that uh for some reason i

16:34

can see that

16:34

uh i feel like she was the oriental lady and i and you know i don't know why

16:41

but i really have feelings

16:44

like that and i feel like i can see this woman um telling her husband you know

16:49

i'll see when we get home

16:50

from work and making plans with her kids for the weekend and i have no idea if

16:56

this is right or not

16:58

wow but i just have those feelings are they recurring yes and do you do like do

17:04

you remember it like a memory

17:05

it's um it's like i get to look into her you know her existence her her life

17:17

and i you know i have

17:18

no i could be totally wrong she could be a jamaican lady for you i have no idea

17:24

or uh if i'm in the

17:26

ballpark or not i just have this feeling i just have a feeling wow do you have

17:31

any unusual cravings or

17:33

anything like food or uh i don't think uh no i don't think i have any i do talk

17:40

to her and i feel like that uh

17:44

you know when when like when i was walking around and i'm trying to make it

17:48

around that block i would

17:50

often ask her for help to uh help me make it around that block yeah i talk to

17:57

her a lot wow yeah come

17:59

on lady i need your help do you have a name for her i just call her lady come

18:03

on lady come on lady i need

18:05

your help wow wow that's crazy superman from copton has a lady's heart now when

18:13

you say that that it's

18:14

not the results aren't good for lady hearts and male bodies yeah would you did

18:19

you say that to the

18:20

doctor yeah i mean the doctor it's so um it's so funny i don't even know if the

18:26

doctor's supposed

18:27

because it was one doctor he would come in a young guy and he would come in

18:31

every day how you doing mr

18:32

flutcher and i would say i'm blessed i don't care i when i woke up from the

18:38

transplant i consider every

18:40

second after that a blessing it's borrowed time man i wasn't supposed to be

18:45

here so i i my answer is

18:46

always i'm blessed so how you know i'm blessed i'm blessed he said you know

18:51

what you're gonna change

18:53

that i'm not gonna know doc it's nothing you can say that's gonna make me

18:57

change my answer i'm gonna

18:59

always be blessed no matter what you say he said you think you're doing really

19:03

good don't you and i'm

19:05

hell yeah i think i'm alive yeah i think i'm doing good i walked around this uh

19:10

hospital corridor i think

19:11

i'm doing really good he said you're not you're doing about what you're

19:15

supposed to be doing and

19:19

you have a woman's heart and it's too small for you and she was almost your age

19:26

it's too small yeah he

19:31

told me that the heart was too small and uh it's the lady was uh i was 58 or 9

19:40

and 59 because i'd be 60 on

19:43

june the 8th so uh he says it's too small and you're not you know you're not

19:50

doing anything

19:51

extraordinary you're just doing average and she's your age i'm like man for for

19:58

the rest of the day

20:00

i was i was i was i'm like man i was you know god why did you do this to me why

20:07

did you give me a woman

20:09

sorry and an old woman at that why can you give me an ad right well i mean why

20:16

god i was questioning

20:18

why did you do this to me did you ask him heck yeah what did he say you mean

20:23

the doctor or god the doctor

20:24

uh i didn't i didn't ask the doctor my doctor did come in and i you know what i'm

20:30

sorry i did ask the

20:31

doctor i asked her i said doc why why could you know i am dude i had tears in

20:37

my eyes because this

20:38

was you know i'm like i got another heart but i ain't gonna last long right i'm

20:42

gonna be out of here

20:44

so it was you know it was with me and the doctor um i asked the doctor why i

20:49

mean why and she looked

20:51

me in the eyeballs joe and she said mr fletcher we didn't want you to die it's

20:56

just that simple

20:57

we didn't want you to die so that was what was available that was what was

21:01

available it was a

21:02

healthy heart and i needed one bad joe now will that heart grow to match your

21:08

body it already has

21:10

really it is the proper size that it's it did yes and the doctor that told me

21:17

was too small is the one

21:18

who told me that he had grown to the proper size wow so why did it grow because

21:23

it recognized it was

21:24

in a bigger body uh joe i i you know that's on the physical uh if you look at

21:30

it physically and probably

21:32

uh you know on a what a rational mind that would probably it it realized that

21:36

it had to adapt to a

21:37

larger but i'm gonna give a little credit to god because that's just me man so

21:41

because he came back too

21:43

fast i mean it was like a week later he said it's already the size it should be

21:47

a week later a week

21:48

after a week later before i left the hospital he was telling me that it's

21:52

already the size it should

21:54

be jesus and i said see doc i told you i'm blessed man that doesn't make any

22:01

sense i know what did he

22:03

say did the doctor say it doesn't make any sense too or is it just a normal

22:07

thing yeah i i i have no idea

22:09

wow i have no idea if it's a normal thing or not but you know i mean i'm giving

22:14

crap wow another miracle

22:16

thank god and i said i questioned god and i i my answer was what did i i got

22:24

back was was simple he said uh if

22:27

i gave you a 18 year old olympic athlete's heart ct and you recovered was doing

22:34

well then people are

22:35

going to say that that's why we got an 18 year old olympic gold medalist heart

22:41

and you're able to

22:42

recover and stuff because of this but if i take an old lady's heart that's too

22:50

small and that not you're

22:53

not supposed to be able to come back and do these things with this heart then

22:57

they're going to have

22:58

to give me a little credit he said i have a habit of taking the least of the

23:03

least the lowest of the

23:05

low and making something out of it and i said you know well let me shut the

23:09

fuck up you're absolutely

23:11

right it wouldn't be that impressive right it wouldn't be a miracle if i you

23:16

know if it was a wonderful

23:18

heart but because i'm god i'm going to take this heart and give it to you and

23:22

you're going to still

23:23

do all those things so shut up cd i said okay that's good now when you're

23:29

exercising now and you just

23:32

are you pushing or are you just getting to a point where you just feel a little

23:35

tired and you back off

23:38

no joe rogan i can't help but push myself i know that's why i'm asking that

23:43

yeah you know i i give

23:45

i give i give everything i got yeah i can't help it and do you feel weird when

23:51

your heart starts beating

23:53

heavy um or should i say her start her heart yeah her heart starts beating

23:59

pretty fast and now i don't

24:02

feel weird i i feel like uh it's something i've done my whole life and i'm just

24:07

glad to be back

24:08

able to do you know some of what i used to do it's just i feel good you know i

24:13

still talk to her though

24:14

come on lady i'm sure we should get through this set lady and now you feel it

24:21

building up like you feel

24:23

like every month or so you get stronger um definitely yeah definitely i feel

24:30

the longer that it's in me

24:32

the longest that that the heart is in me the more it feels like you know it's

24:36

that's where it should be

24:37

my body adapts and how long does a heart transplant usually survive in a person

24:48

well um i think the

24:51

the longest at this point is close to 40 years 40 years wow yeah yeah i don't

24:57

want 40 years

24:58

that's i don't want to be 100 man you don't no why not um i want to i you know

25:06

i never expected

25:08

like i said on june 8th i'll be 60. i never expected to make it to 40. so oh

25:15

really really yeah i never i

25:18

never expected to make i expected to die young so i'm i'm way past what i

25:23

thought i would make it

25:24

anyway so this is why did you think you were going to die that young oh man i

25:29

never had i wanted to

25:30

be uh my always always my and i wanted to be the the skyrocket man brilliant

25:35

like to shoot way up in

25:38

the sky and be a brilliant burst and then i thought that would be the perfect

25:42

ending just go for it go for

25:45

go for it go for it go for it and explode dead motherfucker yeah but he was oh

25:52

he was you know

25:52

he was something else when he was alive and i'll be happy with that you know

25:56

that's what you thought

25:57

yeah oh yeah definitely wow yeah now you gotta settle in for 40 more years yeah

26:02

i don't even want to be

26:04

for it well why do you say that though you want to be alive right now and every

26:08

day is a blessing right now

26:09

yeah so why isn't 40 years a blessing it would be a blessing but i mean you

26:13

know i would be um

26:15

i don't want to be around where uh i'm i don't want to be a burden on anybody

26:21

and uh i think 100 man you know somebody else got to take care of you wipe your

26:27

ass you know yeah you

26:29

gotta wear diapers and and i don't know if i i i wouldn't want to be around to

26:34

be a burden on

26:35

somebody yeah yeah yeah i know what you mean but right now you're not a burden

26:40

i hope not no i think

26:42

my wife might disagree but i hope not but you're moving around man i mean like

26:47

i said if i didn't

26:48

know i would have no idea well i mean i appreciate that and even though i know

26:52

you must have lost some

26:53

muscle you still if i just met you i'd be like this is a jack dude really yeah

26:57

you still look at the

26:58

size of your arms man they're still huge i don't i don't think so just compared

27:02

to what they used to

27:04

be that's why yeah yeah so i don't i don't see him as huge yeah that's the kind

27:08

of stuff don't even

27:10

matter that much to me anymore right i'm sure you have a new lease on life oh

27:14

yeah big time what matters

27:15

you know uh the the really important things are of course my family uh i'm in

27:22

spreading um donor

27:25

awareness is so it's so important because so many people die just waiting to

27:31

get a heart you know on

27:33

the list the 21 i think 21 people a day pass away just waiting trying to get

27:39

and i was so fortunate so

27:41

blessed to be able to get one that i want to try to make sure that other people

27:46

get one too so if

27:48

whatever i can do to try to raise awareness what is the problem like people

27:52

putting uh that they'll

27:53

donate their organs yeah yeah it's so simple it's you can do it online now on

27:57

your driver's license in

27:58

california you can't i don't know about other states but in california you can

28:03

uh do it all online

28:04

you know and and through the dmv and get your dot on your driver's license and

28:10

i want to be a donor

28:12

and i mean you can't take the stuff with you no way so no people get paranoid

28:16

too i've heard people say

28:18

i'm worried about doing that because what if they don't resuscitate me because

28:21

they need someone

28:23

to get a heart or a liver or something like oh no man i really don't think that's

28:26

what doctors are into

28:28

no no it's it's uh hell i had a i at younger you know when i first got my

28:34

driver i was 16 years old

28:37

and asked you do you want to be a donor i'm like no i'm taking everything that

28:42

god gave me with me

28:44

i ain't even no i ain't donating nothing but you know uh time brings about a

28:50

change man you get a little

28:52

older a little more wisdom and uh and if i can got something somebody else can

28:58

use definitely most

28:59

definitely take it yeah my mother and all nine of her brothers and sisters all

29:04

passed away from heart

29:06

really so it's just something that's in your family oh yeah it's very good my

29:09

older brother walt

29:10

passed away just a couple years ago from congestive heart failure and other

29:15

complications so heart

29:17

problems are run big time in the fletcher family that's a crazy one right that

29:22

does run in families

29:24

yep it is crazy yeah but it's reality yeah so now um do you what kind of diet

29:32

do they have you on

29:34

uh i eat very clean now um i guess uh um i i have my uh my kids crack up i'd

29:42

say i'm a presbyterian but

29:44

actually uh that's that's pescatarian i i fish i eat fish you know and

29:51

vegetables and um it's no

29:54

bullshit yeah no bullshit no time for bullshit no time for bullshit that's

29:59

exactly right man because

30:01

do you drink coffee time is precious no i used to but the caffeine uh and my

30:06

doctors don't like

30:07

me to add the caffeine yeah i would imagine yeah so um rest must be very

30:12

important for you too

30:14

yeah god damn i get plenty of it yeah it is what other things they make sure

30:19

that you do

30:20

um the diet has to be on point have to take my medication uh they don't want me

30:26

um to uh

30:28

you know do too much strenuous activities um they they had limited me i i

30:35

wouldn't i was not able to

30:37

travel out of the country until yesterday so yes so at one year anniversary

30:43

that's when they give you the

30:45

green light yep and i can go all over what did they say when they saw you run

30:48

in the parking lot and fall

30:50

down all my doctors and um you know they all said uh ct what we think except

30:59

one except one my cardiologist

31:04

and he said you know ct i'm not gonna lecture you like everybody else did uh

31:08

you already know that

31:10

they shouldn't have done that but man i am so proud of you he said you have

31:16

inspired me to start working

31:18

out again wow yep that was dr salam dr salam if you're listening thank you he

31:26

was the only one that

31:27

didn't condemn me how far out was that from the surgery uh when you fell down

31:33

three months

31:36

yeah you're so crazy yeah i felt like i could do too my mind was like go yeah

31:43

well that's that mentality

31:45

that you have you know i would imagine that's very hard to adjust uh yeah it's

31:51

big time i mean from

31:54

being a it will be the same for you so you're active guy kicking the out of

32:01

bags and

32:02

stuff old lightning foot over there and then you know maybe you think and not

32:07

be able to raise your

32:08

leg yeah yeah or throw a punch man i'll be walking around in the grocery store

32:14

i'm like man with my

32:16

wife and i'm like man i hope nobody fucks with me oh right right right so yeah

32:21

how would you feel if

32:23

somebody you think man if somebody fucks with you can't even punch them yeah

32:27

you can't do anything

32:28

you can't do nothing you'd be helpless that's man that is hard to accept little

32:36

old ladies have to

32:37

do oh yeah it's super hard i'm like man if somebody fuck with me i'm just gonna

32:41

get beat up i got no defense

32:45

that's a terrible thing that's a terrible thing but awfully humbling yeah damn

32:52

and you really you

32:53

realize uh you know just how and your whole life you live for strength you know

32:58

i've been a strong

33:00

man my whole life and then all of a sudden all of that is taken away and you're

33:05

just you know

33:07

a fucking invalid man you're just weak as shit it's very hard mentally to deal

33:15

with

33:16

but you're past that now yes now you're just in what what how would you categorize

33:24

like how

33:24

you feel right now um i categorize my my uh emotional feelings as being

33:31

probably better than ever

33:34

really yes uh i'm i see things in such a different light uh after coming that

33:41

close to dying the things

33:43

that i thought were important are just don't even matter like what give me an

33:48

example uh i used to i

33:50

give you one example you know people i used to tell okay you asked me about

33:54

this last time i was on the

33:55

show and i tell people they say well it's about the steroids steroids oh see do

34:00

you take yours and i tell

34:02

them the same thing that i've been saying for 25 years in magazine articles and

34:07

stuff i tried them

34:08

yes i tried them when i was young and didn't work for me i stopped taking many

34:15

many years nobody nobody

34:17

a lot of people don't believe that they don't believe that and they'll tell me

34:20

oh you're full of

34:21

shit ct you're lying and i don't know that and joe that used to bother the out

34:25

of me people

34:26

online i'd be arguing with people online and said i'll take your goddamn drug

34:31

test anytime any 24 hours

34:32

a day you could test me i'll tell you what i gave you 10 000 bucks if i fail

34:37

your drug test all you

34:38

got to do is get off social media nobody ever took that but but uh i don't give

34:45

a if people

34:45

say i take steroids now i don't care who cares right i don't care now it's a

34:50

compliment do you uh you don't

34:52

still go back and forth and argue with people online oh no no not anymore you

34:56

know i sure did

34:57

oh i would i would jump on them in a minute i used to see you doing it i'd

35:03

shake my head i'd be like

35:04

why is he doing that oh man because that was my mentality yeah attack attack

35:09

back hit me i'm gonna

35:11

hit you back man try to hit you harder than you let's let's go all caps oh yeah

35:16

well you know i do the

35:17

all caps people talk to me about you're yelling you're yelling ct but i you

35:21

know i can't have c so

35:23

i make it all caps so i can read what i'm you know what i'm right right right

35:27

are you yelling i said can

35:28

you actually hear that can you actually hear that those those words oh you're

35:34

wow that's you got spidey

35:36

sense man that is one of the most humbling things about getting older is the

35:40

vision going oh yeah i've

35:42

known it like from when i was like 42 i started noticing and by the time i was

35:47

46 i was like god

35:48

damn it i think i need glasses yeah because i would just try to like read the

35:52

computer and i'd be doing

35:53

this with my eyes like bulging my eyes and squinting and trying to look at it

35:58

sideways and trying to see

35:59

what the i was reading it's a weird thing it's like oh boy my ability to see

36:03

the world is fading it

36:04

happens yeah it was to the best of us but it's a warning sign like hey man this

36:09

is you know this

36:10

is a finite existence yeah oh get some done right yeah now right now don't wait

36:18

don't be waiting time

36:20

is such a precious commodity billionaires you cannot buy one second no one

36:26

second of life yeah can't do it

36:30

no it's so precious if anything that you're thinking about doing and you've

36:36

been putting off

36:37

my advice is to get the step and get to doing that right now get after it don't

36:45

put it off any longer

36:47

get it done so do you feel like you're like ct fletcher 2.0 definitely that i'm

36:53

a new dude a new dude

36:56

with a new attitude man yeah big time no more you won't be arguing i tell the

37:01

guys i used to argue

37:02

with online hey i love you man if you hate me all you want to i love to see i

37:06

ain't got time for hate

37:08

yeah and for a racism or a big i got time for none of that it's all foolishness

37:13

yeah it's so much

37:15

bullshit and just a waste of time it ain't even funny yeah i'm like look if the

37:20

in the transplant

37:21

experience enhanced my view i've always said we're all the same under the bar

37:26

my mom taught me love

37:28

everybody but look they took i have no idea the nationality or race of the

37:35

donor it don't matter

37:38

i hope you're right if you're right and it's an asian woman i think that would

37:41

be fantastic that you

37:42

could feel that that you would know that and you could feel it man wouldn't

37:46

that be something be

37:47

amazing i gotta find out how can you find out i i i i don't i have no idea i

37:53

want that hopefully

37:54

they're listening to the joe rogan podcast well why don't you give them some

37:57

details like when

37:59

what day did it happen and what like where did the did they tell you where the

38:05

donor came from no part

38:06

of the country nope i know i i know that the the heart was flown in and i

38:11

actually you know my my

38:13

wife how crazy is that it's something they took a heart out of someone's body

38:17

and they put it on ice

38:18

and we actually she has video the ice chest uh you know me going into the room

38:23

and then the ice just

38:25

come following right afterwards god that's so crazy it is crazy it's i mean it's

38:31

when i was a kid

38:32

uh it would be like dr frankenstein yeah you know yeah they didn't start doing

38:36

it till 68 and i was

38:38

born in 59 so you know wow they did heart transplants in 68 yeah that was the

38:43

first one yeah 1960 they've

38:45

been doing a long time but uh when i like when i was a kid would have been like

38:49

dr frankenstein you

38:50

told me something like that was possible i would say oh hell no you're crazy

38:54

you're just making it up

38:55

it's science fiction but it most it most certainly is possible they think they're

39:01

going to be able to

39:02

grow your own heart yeah they're working on that right now growing your own

39:06

heart with stem cells

39:07

yep and i you know it's gonna happen which is just crazy yep it is going to

39:12

happen i have no doubt

39:14

yeah they've already grew a woman's bladder a woman had bladder cancer and they

39:18

grew her a new bladder

39:21

yeah and replaced her bladder yeah so the heart's coming yeah it's coming man

39:26

yeah they're already

39:27

working on uh i think they're 3d see if you can find it jamie they're 3d

39:31

printing a human heart

39:33

and they think that they're going to be able to get to a point where they have

39:37

a working model of a

39:38

human heart like wow and and put your heart in your body a freshie brand new

39:46

one which is just

39:48

so crazy that that is crazy yeah and how about for people who are amputees and

39:53

things along those

39:53

lines so be able to replace limbs with your own limb actually grow you a limb

39:59

isn't that something

40:01

here it is the first 3d printed heart made up of living human cells like look

40:08

at this yeah

40:11

yeah man thank god there's people smarter than us oh yeah oh look at that that

40:16

is a heart made by

40:17

universities uh tel aviv university wow the heart the size of a rabbit marks

40:24

the first time an entire

40:25

heart has been 3d printed so that's a tiny one right now but complete with

40:30

living cells blood vessels

40:31

ventricles and chambers intact incredible incredible mini heart can contract

40:38

but it can't yet pump out

40:39

blood so they're working on all those different variables i guess but man isn't

40:43

that incredible

40:44

look at that doing it with a 3d printing machine like 3d printing machines

40:49

freak me the out like

40:50

that's the future they're going to be able to make things yeah look at that

40:55

look how that works if you

40:57

folks who haven't seen this uh this is uh what the future it's on cnet.com uh

41:02

you can google it and

41:04

just watch the video of them actually creating this it is unbelievably

41:08

fascinating so did you look at the

41:11

heart before they put it in you did you have a chance to see it no no i know i

41:14

was out yeah i was out by

41:16

that time yeah wow no didn't look at it so you wake up lights come back on yep

41:23

and uh doctor's area

41:27

wife's there yep doctor's there my wife's there and uh it was uh you know a new

41:33

day and i was like uh

41:35

i want i kind of wanted i kind of wanted to say um i told you so yeah that was

41:43

the first thing that's

41:45

hilarious i told you so i told you so it was a funny thing to say when you come

41:49

back from a heart

41:50

transplant i mean because you would be uh you would be surprised that would be

41:55

so funny though if you did say

41:56

i told you so it was so many uh i got so many people and i it was overwhelming

42:02

support but i got

42:04

uh quite a few well too many for me uh messages at dms and i hope you don't

42:09

make it i hope you die

42:11

and yeah i wish we did already you know stuff like that do you feel um sorry

42:16

for those people now oh oh yeah

42:18

most definitely now now i do you know instead of being angry yeah before before

42:23

i was like

42:24

yeah you know choke the out of them but you know now i mean you got to be um

42:30

what what is your your existence must be pretty pitiful for you to you know

42:38

feel that much hate for

42:40

somebody that you don't even know never even met i just can't stand joe rogan i

42:45

hate him

42:46

i never met him i never sit down yeah there's no happy people that are doing

42:51

that no it's just

42:52

it's so transparent you got to be pretty you know unbelievably miserable

42:57

miserable just miserable

42:59

i'm gonna follow joe rogan just so i can talk about him i don't care i wish joe

43:04

rogan was off the air

43:06

but i'm following every word he says because i don't want to miss nothing that

43:12

joe rogan has to say

43:13

but i hate him yeah makes no sense man well it doesn't make sense but a lot of

43:18

people don't make

43:19

sense that's true people live their lives in just very counterproductive ways

43:23

and they feel like as

43:24

long as they've got something they're excited about that that's they're doing

43:27

something even if it's

43:28

excited about hating you for no reason i just i don't get it time is too

43:33

precious to waste don't hate

43:35

it's just foolish it's just it's a foolish way to exist yeah they can take uh

43:41

livers and hearts and

43:43

different organs from any nationality and switch them around we're interchangeable

43:48

joe we are

43:49

interchangeable well we're all one thing yes the only thing that separates us

43:54

is the climate that we

43:55

came from that's it that's it and it's so it it makes racism so stupid well

44:02

everything's stupid

44:04

tribalism is stupid across the board conservative versus liberal that's stupid

44:08

southern versus northern

44:10

that's stupid that's stupid yeah asian versus black is stupid white versus pakistan

44:16

is stupid it's so

44:18

stupid so stupid it's we're all interchangeable dude we miss it we're all that

44:23

that they're right

44:24

there shows us that you know we're all one yeah we wouldn't be interchangeable

44:29

no we couldn't if we

44:32

it's this outer that's on top this epidermis this skin this stuff that you know

44:39

divides us and it's

44:42

also what makes us interesting yeah that's what's so foolish about it it's like

44:45

what's fascinating to

44:46

me is that human beings came from every single spot on the earth yeah and they

44:51

one time they originated

44:52

in africa and spread out all over the planet and adapted to each individual

44:57

environment when you meet

44:58

someone from ireland they're white like paper yeah that's just because there's

45:02

no sun exactly their

45:03

body developed it's like a a solar panel for vitamin d they're like we got to

45:06

figure out how to get

45:07

vitamin d this black skin ain't cutting there's no sun out here yeah we don't

45:12

need this melanin because

45:13

we're not protecting ourselves from the sun anymore so they turn white just

45:16

that but they're the same exact

45:18

thing they can take that guy from ireland guy from africa and if this guy needs

45:24

a part and hey let me

45:26

switch it up let me this gentleman here graham hancock was on my podcast uh

45:30

last week and he's a

45:32

brilliant brilliant guy but he studies ancient civilizations and people and one

45:37

of the things

45:37

that they're studying now is um the various civilizations that we didn't even

45:42

know existed that existed in

45:43

south america like huge multi-million size of population um civilizations in

45:50

the amazon

45:52

like 20 million people living in the amazon at one point in time they they

45:54

think they were wiped out

45:56

by spanish explorers um and european explorers that came over gave them smallpox

46:00

like the way they wiped

46:01

out 90 of the native americans they think the same thing happened down there in

46:05

the amazon it just

46:06

they had huge cities down there that european settlers had reported on they

46:10

were just wiped out

46:11

but the point is that we were we were everywhere and it's all one thing it's

46:16

all human it is it's all

46:17

human race that's it man and the funny thing about white people that are racist

46:21

is that especially like

46:23

i have uh neanderthal dna that's more primitive than homo sapien dna and it's

46:29

only in white people

46:30

like it's kind of funny that way you know because white white racists like they

46:35

have to deal with the

46:36

fact that the only white people carry that neanderthal in them yeah and do you

46:43

think that i don't think

46:45

that they would find that uh a bad thing though the neanderthal yeah no i think

46:49

they'd be hell yes

46:51

oh right yeah well they weren't smart enough to stick around you know for

46:55

whatever reason they don't

46:56

even know why you know they don't know if we outbred them or if we interbred

46:59

with them or if we wiped

47:01

them out they don't even know they're also finding new humans there there's a

47:05

human they found in russia

47:06

called a dennis i think it's called denis olivan is that what you're saying and

47:09

they just found more

47:10

bones of them in tibet so they know that these russian people that was a

47:14

totally distinct

47:16

subspecies of human traveled traveled to tibet yeah and neanderthals lived for

47:22

half a million years

47:24

so they were around way longer than we've we've only been around i think for a

47:27

couple hundred thousand

47:28

years right homo sapiens yeah so they were around longer than us like by a

47:31

factor of like somewhere

47:32

around 300 000 years yeah all over the world man just what a crazy animal we

47:38

are we just travel

47:40

everywhere and find a spot and adapt and that's right we make it work yeah stay

47:45

in a community so you

47:47

could help each other and live off each other and adapt and unfortunately that's

47:51

where all our tribalism

47:52

comes from too that we have this tight-knit group and everybody else everybody

47:57

else it's us versus them

47:58

and that's inside of us you know wouldn't it wouldn't it be um great and and

48:04

and this is where i look

48:05

i don't uh think that it's wrong if you're a italian guy i don't think it's

48:13

wrong to be very proud of

48:14

being italian i and if you're a polish guy i don't think it's uh wrong to be

48:19

very proud of being post

48:21

why can't i be proud or why can't you be proud of being whatever race you are

48:28

you can be proud of

48:29

that but does that mean that i have to hate another guy because he's not no the

48:35

race that i am you can

48:37

be proud of what you are and not hate another guy for being different than what

48:41

you are how how about

48:42

would give that a try well i think the feeling that you got from the second

48:47

chance on life this

48:48

beautiful feeling of appreciation and celebration of of this existence that's

48:53

what we need to try to

48:55

foster in people we need to try to like let people know this is this is a a

49:00

temporary thing man if

49:02

you're lucky like we're talking about 100 years if you're lucky you get to 100

49:06

years i'm 51 i'm halfway

49:07

there right if i'm lucky if everything works out perfect and it probably isn't

49:11

let's be honest

49:12

beat the out of my body right so it's probably not going to do you want to make

49:15

it to be a hundred job

49:16

i'll see what's up yeah i do because i i'm a i'm a science nerd i'm i'm

49:22

fascinated by all these 3d

49:24

printed hearts and all this i want to see what the they can do i really think

49:28

and talking

49:29

to guys like david sinclair and all these anti-aging specialists i think they're

49:33

on the verge of being

49:34

able to reverse aging that they're treating aging like it's a disease like it's

49:39

a disease at the

49:40

cellular level instead of accepting it and that like well you get older hey you're

49:45

going to have to

49:46

accept you can't do as much your body's not going to work as well why maybe

49:50

that's not the case maybe

49:52

if they can correct certain things about the human body maybe they can correct

49:56

that i think it's very

49:57

likely that in the future i don't think that's an insurmountable situation i

50:00

think they're going to

50:02

be able to correct what happens to your body when it ages the deterioration

50:06

that's caused by the aging

50:07

process your body produces less hormones your body starts to slow down alzheimer's

50:13

all these different

50:14

things i think they're going to be able to correct those things wow the problem

50:18

with that is then what

50:21

we're going to live forever you're going to be happy living forever like what

50:24

if when you die it's

50:25

amazing what if when you die there really is a heaven you really really do go

50:29

to some spectacular

50:31

dimension filled with love and peace and and happiness and there's no emotions

50:38

like we think about

50:39

here there's no fear there's none of the things that hold people back none of

50:43

the anxiety and the angst

50:45

it's just consciousness and love and then you're wasting your time here just

50:49

trying to stay alive

50:50

taking pills to live to be a million

50:52

boy um you open a big ass can of worms right there well i would tell you um joe

51:05

without a shadow of a doubt none whatsoever death is not the end you don't

51:12

think so i know i know joe how

51:14

do you know because i've been dead right yes i've been dead what what what

51:19

about that experience

51:21

cemented it in your head um when i like i said it was the most peaceful um and

51:32

and i i don't feel like

51:35

it was the most peace most restful most i was i woke up laughing i was yeah

51:42

yeah i was overjoyed

51:46

you woke up laughing yeah i i was overjoyed do you remember anything about what

51:53

happened when you

51:53

blacked out extreme the the the time i was extremely peaceful extreme i didn't

51:59

have a worry extremely

52:02

joy and i was not uh sad at all you know i was overjoyed very happy very

52:10

peaceful and it erased

52:14

any fear that i might have had and i and any fear of dying is gone i don't fear

52:23

death at all

52:26

and so i mean maybe that's why i don't want to live to be 100 because i mean i

52:30

wouldn't mind visiting

52:31

that place again man it was so much peace so much and it wasn't like you know

52:37

um this is you know i'm

52:39

just in the ground i'm uh and i'm not a plant uh just dirt you know i know that

52:47

i'm in a a very

52:49

comfortable place and and you know i wouldn't mind visiting again i wouldn't

52:55

mind so i definitely i

52:57

hold no fear and so when i say that it's it's definitely not the end you're i

53:02

believe that your

53:04

soul you know so people have a different name for consciousness or whatever it's

53:09

definitely eternal

53:11

and because how else could you have these uh feelings or emotions or you know

53:17

have that that

53:19

sort of comfort the feeling of comfort and being in the right place if

53:23

something didn't continue because

53:25

my life my life was gone the essence of life my body's you know gone it was

53:30

gone flatlined dead whatever

53:32

i told my doctor that died and he said no actually it's called some kind of

53:36

pause or some like that

53:38

and i said look if i if the pause lasted doc i wouldn't be talking to you right

53:42

now so uh okay

53:45

you call it a pause i thought well during that pause i was dead so uh it's it

53:51

was a wonderful feeling

53:53

well i think with a guy like you that's so physical and you've been so physical

53:58

your whole life

53:59

the big fear is to not be able to take care of yourself or move like that's

54:03

what we're talking

54:04

about when you talk about being 100 like having someone wipe your ass and take

54:09

care of you like

54:09

that's the big fear it's not death death is just peaceful it's the end but the

54:14

the big fear is the

54:16

deterioration of the physical body to the point where it's just painful

54:20

everything's painful you can't go

54:21

anywhere you can't count on yourself yeah it's uh it's very peaceful but i

54:28

definitely don't think it's

54:31

the end i think it's the beginning yeah yeah and that's uh it's an overwhelming

54:37

feeling like i had

54:40

i was able to peek over into the other side and that is definitely assurance

54:48

that it's not the end

54:50

and that there is something else on the other side i have that assurance is

54:55

able to peek and just peek

54:56

into it well i think we all have this feeling that we are something other than

55:00

our body most definitely

55:02

i mean i i have that feeling like i feel like there's like a little ball of

55:05

energy in there that

55:07

moves this thing around well you're right yeah but that's what it feels like it

55:11

always feels like that

55:12

yeah that's what i i've always rejected the label atheist like people say are

55:17

you religious i'm like

55:19

i was when i was a little kid i had to go to catholic school and i you know i

55:22

did all that jazz but

55:24

my parents when i grew up were hippies after that my mom split up for my dad my

55:29

mom shacked up with my

55:30

stepfather who's he's a hippie and there was no no church after that but i'm

55:36

not an atheist i'm not i don't

55:38

know like i don't believe anybody that says they know what life is or what life

55:45

means or what happens

55:47

when you die i want to hear your opinions i want to hear your thoughts but you

55:51

don't know and anybody

55:52

that says they know what happens when they die i know what happens when i die

55:56

it'll be black and and

55:57

cold and that is the end and just like there was nothing before there'll be

56:01

nothing at the end and like

56:02

you don't know that you're just saying that there is no god how do you say that

56:06

how do you say that

56:07

well one day what if you stand in front of god or uh in in god's presence in

56:12

some non-physical form

56:14

and then you're you're weeping and in your arrogance and say stating that there's

56:19

no higher power like

56:21

it might be the the universe itself might be god i mean we don't know anything

56:26

you we are strange little

56:29

monkey people living on this planet making things that alter our environment

56:34

moving around driving

56:36

flying talking to each other talking but at the end of the day you're only

56:40

aware of what you've

56:41

experienced right and when you don't know that's like when people have i've

56:45

talked to several friends

56:46

that have had near-death experiences um a very good friend of mine she she was

56:50

in a car accident and she

56:51

had a very similar thing where she said it was so peaceful yeah she said you

56:56

know they got i think

56:57

they got rear-ended and like really banged up and when it felt like she was

57:04

gonna die she felt so

57:06

peaceful it's so true yeah i think a lot of people that uh have come that close

57:12

to dying uh are a lot of

57:15

them are going to say the same thing that they have no fear of death anymore it's

57:19

it's erased and uh you

57:22

you but you also have the feeling that you know that this existence on earth

57:26

when your physical body

57:28

is definitely not the end and the way she describes it is exactly the way you

57:32

do it she's my manager

57:33

and you know i talk to her all the time the way she describes things is

57:36

essentially exactly how you did

57:39

that it's just so peaceful it just felt just felt peaceful yeah and but but not

57:44

uh you know like

57:45

like people who don't believe in that you you're uh by the way let me let me

57:53

say i'm not religious

57:54

either yeah i was raised super religious in a super religious home by a pentecostal

58:03

uh heaven or hell

58:04

brimstone fire and brimstone preacher yeah did they do the tongues oh yes oh

58:09

that's hilarious that's my

58:11

favorite and uh speaking in tongues everything everything you know everything

58:16

was a sin also everything

58:18

everything oh dancing dancing was listening to rock and roll music oh yeah oh

58:23

yeah everything was a sin

58:26

so i think that's really what drove me away from being a religious person yeah

58:31

i'm definitely not

58:32

i always say i'm a man of faith i have a tremendous amount of faith but faith

58:37

and religion are two

58:38

different things a lot of people confuse them yeah and they they talk about

58:43

them as being the same but

58:44

they are definitely not uh religion is man-made and you know a set of rules and

58:49

man's okay we're going

58:50

to be this and if you want to be this religion then you're gonna have to go by

58:54

these rules yeah and

58:55

and it's it's it's all man-made but faith is not man-made and so i'm a

58:59

tremendous man of faith

59:01

but not religion yeah some would say that like you're a spiritual person that's

59:05

like a thing that

59:06

gets thrown around today like i'm not religious but i'm spiritual people say

59:10

that a lot like what

59:11

does that mean no one really knows it's a strange sort of definition but i feel

59:15

what you're saying like

59:16

that there's something more to this there's something more to this than just

59:19

tissue and bone and blood

59:21

moving on this rock that's traveling through the universe there's something

59:25

more there's something

59:26

there's something there's some and maybe it's just something more for us but

59:30

the the beauty of

59:32

friendship and love and family like those things are intense beautiful

59:38

emotional experiences that i i

59:41

don't i don't know they seem to transcend just regular life itself they seem to

59:47

have there's a higher power

59:48

to them a higher beauty to them i think that's one of the things that we like

59:52

when we see people doing

59:53

something really great we love seeing people accomplish things because we we

59:58

love we like seeing people

59:59

succeed we like seeing people like that have doubts and and and something

1:00:04

almost insurmountable and

1:00:06

incredibly difficult in front of them and then they they overcome and it gives

1:00:11

us all hope and it gives

1:00:12

us all like this inspiration this feeling we're connected in some sort of very

1:00:16

very strange way

1:00:17

but i think you could just chalk it up oh that's just camaraderie we needed

1:00:20

that because of evolution

1:00:21

that's how we stayed alive like maybe maybe but maybe there's something else

1:00:25

maybe the whatever this

1:00:26

consciousness is that's totally not no one has ever defined consciousness and

1:00:30

there's certain people that

1:00:31

think that it occurs only in the brain and the neurons and the synapses and it

1:00:36

might or that might just be

1:00:37

an antenna i mean consciousness might very well be you are using your physical

1:00:43

tissue to tune in to

1:00:45

whatever this this thing that we share is this life force that we all seem to

1:00:51

share and when when there's

1:00:53

other things like looking in someone's eyes man like when when you know someone's

1:00:58

like there for you and you

1:01:00

know you're there for them like that camaraderie that intense camaraderie it's

1:01:04

like that that expression

1:01:06

the windows to the soul that the eyes of the windows to the soul it really does

1:01:10

seem like that right

1:01:11

like you see people you see them you know like the avatar lady said i see you

1:01:16

yeah and you can it's um

1:01:19

looking at being able to look into somebody's eyes you can tell uh a lot ah you

1:01:26

can tell if they're

1:01:27

bullshitting yes they're full of shit or not man or if they feel weird about

1:01:31

something yeah maybe they

1:01:33

feel like maybe this isn't a smart thing or maybe maybe maybe i should have

1:01:37

done better by you or yeah

1:01:39

maybe i fucked you over yeah yeah yeah you can tell that and i uh i i told you

1:01:44

the first first time i had

1:01:46

the uh open heart surgery and flatline three times during that surgery i also

1:01:53

had an experience um that

1:01:57

also strengthens my belief in there being something after the body dies i uh a

1:02:04

vision or whatever you want

1:02:06

to call it uh okay i see i was able to see my mother who had passed away uh the

1:02:12

year before

1:02:14

and uh you know i say i see my mother i didn't see her face i just heard her

1:02:19

voice and i knew it was her

1:02:21

and she was um you know pleading to uh i say god a lot of people may say you

1:02:27

know what whatever they

1:02:29

look up to and i ain't got no problem with that i don't think that uh because

1:02:35

people don't believe

1:02:36

exactly like i believe that they're doomed and they're going to hell although

1:02:40

that was the way i was

1:02:41

raised or if you don't believe like this i mean all catholics when i quote to

1:02:46

my dad all catholics were

1:02:49

just lost they're not going to make it because they don't you know believe they

1:02:53

believe the wrong

1:02:54

yeah they don't believe the right so of course they're not going to make what

1:02:58

about jews

1:03:01

if you don't believe like this muslims up oh just lost man mormons oh man you're

1:03:07

scientologists oh

1:03:08

you're especially lost and that's you know but that's how they felt yeah that's

1:03:14

how they felt

1:03:15

that's how i was talking and i just you know i don't believe that you got you

1:03:20

got this uh my dad was

1:03:22

some people they found my dad thought that he could walk on water he could do

1:03:26

no wrong and it's the same

1:03:27

guy that you know you know break my nose and send me to the fucking emergency

1:03:31

room and kick my and

1:03:33

my mom was a slave and that was perfectly fine with him and and also this was

1:03:39

the guy that was

1:03:40

fucking women in the church but if you don't believe like i believe you're

1:03:45

going to hell yeah people have

1:03:47

a remarkable ability to be hypocrites yeah they're super souls and i've seen

1:03:52

that so much from super

1:03:55

religious people sure that it just turned me off yeah from being a religious

1:04:00

person well i think a lot

1:04:01

of what it is is control people want to control other people they want to be

1:04:05

able to tell people

1:04:06

what to do and when to do it and that it gives them some power in their own

1:04:10

life by doing so yeah yeah

1:04:11

and i'm man i don't i just uh you know it destroyed my uh um faith and just

1:04:20

super you know people that are

1:04:23

in church every sunday every tuesday we went to church three times a week three

1:04:28

times three times

1:04:29

we every tuesday every friday and every sunday in church man in churches i mean

1:04:34

during the watts riots

1:04:36

i'm a little kid we went to church wow yeah with the the guy the soldiers the

1:04:41

national guard on the

1:04:42

streets they pull my dad over i'm a little kid in the back seat where you going

1:04:46

uh i'm going to church

1:04:49

and i'm like these guys got this tanks on the street this guy's got a m6 16 and

1:04:55

asking and my

1:04:56

dad's like we're going to church i'm like could you leave us at home could you

1:05:00

meet my brother i'm

1:05:02

like can we leave i want to be at home looking at heckle and chuckle cartoons

1:05:06

man i don't want to be

1:05:07

out here but we went to church man so he was super dedicated you know to you

1:05:14

know part of him was

1:05:16

super dedicated to what he believed and then um you know you go over sisters sally's

1:05:22

house to give

1:05:23

her a consultation and i'm looking in the room her bedroom door is opening

1:05:28

there's my dad with his

1:05:31

t-shirt on sister sally's in her slip and and i guess me and my brother were

1:05:36

there to be his uh

1:05:37

scapegoat or you know his excuse my mom you know if i take them then you know

1:05:43

nothing could

1:05:43

be going on wrong but i'm like i still remember that i'm like what kind of

1:05:47

consultation is he doing

1:05:49

like come on i think right now we're experiencing some of the most insidious

1:05:55

aspects of uh

1:05:56

of religion in the people attacking people while they're worshiping yeah you

1:06:01

know muslims attacking

1:06:03

christians and christians attacking muslims and it's like in synagogues and

1:06:07

christians attacking

1:06:08

jews i mean the whole thing is so insane attacking people while they're worshiping

1:06:13

saying it is insane

1:06:15

it's almost this sign of how fucked up things are right now that this is

1:06:18

something that's happening

1:06:20

on a regular basis now in the name of religion i mean doesn't i mean what kind

1:06:25

of religion

1:06:26

would you know say this is okay i mean aren't we supposed to love our neighbors

1:06:33

i mean the the

1:06:36

christ church one you could not you it's hard to even say that that was about

1:06:40

religion there's more

1:06:41

about bigotry and racism than anything yeah right and then the response to that

1:06:46

is what you're seeing

1:06:47

in sri lanka and you know people blowing people up and in churches and synagogues

1:06:52

and it's just it's

1:06:53

insane it's it's just we've we've reached this very critical moment in our our

1:07:01

society and just

1:07:02

civilization in general where people are attacking people for things that they

1:07:06

believe in yeah which

1:07:07

is just it's one of the most insane things to attack people on you're not

1:07:12

attacking people because

1:07:13

they're aggressive because they're coming towards you they're trying to take

1:07:16

away your your resources or

1:07:18

harm your family no no no no they believe the wrong yeah so i'm gonna kill them

1:07:24

yeah they don't believe

1:07:25

like i kill hundreds of them yeah so i'm gonna kill them it's insanity i i mean

1:07:30

it doesn't i don't know

1:07:31

how to fix it we i thought the overriding principle of most every religion is

1:07:39

love yeah i thought it was

1:07:41

it was supposed to be love i thought all of them taught love isn't that the

1:07:48

overriding principle of

1:07:50

religion your religion doesn't it teach you to love people if your religion

1:07:55

teaches you to hate people

1:07:57

to go out and kill people then something's up yeah yeah it's supposed to be

1:08:02

reinforcing this idea of

1:08:05

of community of that you're all together working towards a goal something's

1:08:09

wrong yeah it's uh

1:08:10

i mean it's so much i mean there's so many issues right there's so many issues

1:08:16

with uh with poverty

1:08:18

with crime with all these different things in this world today but the the

1:08:23

religion issue and the the

1:08:24

hatred hatred of other people's religions has got to be one of the one of the

1:08:28

strangest aspects of our

1:08:29

community or our cultures it's so crazy man i man i i i just want to do

1:08:35

everything that i possibly can

1:08:38

possibly can do and you know i'm just a little guy from compton nobody knows me

1:08:43

nobody who the

1:08:44

fuck is ct futcher ain't nobody but whatever i can possibly do to try to bring

1:08:48

people together man

1:08:50

let it just come together and lobby i just just saying we're all the same under

1:08:55

the bar that's my

1:08:57

equivalent of trying to you know right bring people in a weightlifting jitsu

1:09:01

says a similar thing we're

1:09:03

all the same we're all brothers and sisters on the mats exactly that's exactly

1:09:07

what it is yeah but

1:09:09

that's that's a thing sometimes you know when someone has like this common

1:09:13

struggle like like you find

1:09:14

out a lot about someone when you lift with them right oh yeah when you know

1:09:17

they can do 10 and they

1:09:18

start bitching out at seven yeah like come on bro that's right man still you're

1:09:22

set come on i mean that's

1:09:25

that's similar in i mean marathon runners have that sort of camaraderie that

1:09:29

feeling like if someone

1:09:30

can can actually complete marathons and then ultra marathons do you have the

1:09:35

goods doesn't know no

1:09:36

one gives a fuck if you're chinese or black or a girl or a boy you're a bad

1:09:41

motherfucker or you are

1:09:42

not yeah if you are not you should work towards becoming one yeah i mean that's

1:09:47

same with mma right

1:09:49

yeah that's martial arts in general i mean it's all about a vehicle for

1:09:52

developing your human potential

1:09:54

i've always said that one of the best ways to stop bullying and stop all this

1:09:58

aggression it sounds

1:09:58

counterproductive and counterintuitive but this stop bullying teach kids how to

1:10:03

fight they won't

1:10:04

fight they won't do that man i mean and the the ones who are the strongest they

1:10:08

won't they won't have

1:10:09

this need to impose on people they don't that doesn't exist in jujitsu the way

1:10:15

it exists in in in kids yeah

1:10:18

because kids are insecure and they they have this weapon being bigger or being

1:10:22

meaner or being more

1:10:24

aggressive and scaring kids and they they see someone intimidated and they can't

1:10:27

help themselves

1:10:27

because they don't have any guidance yeah they don't have they don't no one's

1:10:30

taught them the

1:10:31

proper way to behave and think and then no one's taught them the consequences

1:10:35

of that shitty behavior

1:10:36

and thinking they just get away with it they do it and they don't think that it's

1:10:40

hurting anybody

1:10:41

or they don't they don't care they don't feel it yet they're just numb to it

1:10:44

they're not they're not

1:10:45

they haven't been taught no they have not been taught this is this is the way

1:10:50

that i can stand out

1:10:51

yeah and a lot of it is because like they need a real cause they need a real

1:10:57

cause something real

1:10:58

to work towards instead of like looking for conflict and some kid who's looking

1:11:02

at you at the bus stop

1:11:03

weird yeah look for find real conflict find something that you could really

1:11:08

work towards

1:11:09

and you'll feel better about yourself and you'll feel better about the way you

1:11:12

communicate with other

1:11:13

people it's one of the reasons why a lot of people talk about jujitsu like it's

1:11:17

a religion

1:11:17

and in some ways i think it kind of is because you learn not in the bad ways

1:11:22

but in the good ways that

1:11:24

you learn this sense of community through struggle right i think the same thing

1:11:28

could be said for

1:11:29

weightlifters too yeah yeah no it's there's a bond you guys oh man and so and

1:11:35

it's it translate it's so

1:11:37

many mma guys that you know have come to the gym when i train i worked out and

1:11:44

it's so relatable

1:11:47

the the weightlifting world and uh the fighting world uh except you're not

1:11:52

getting bust upside the

1:11:53

head when you're in the gym but that struggle though yeah the struggle like i

1:11:57

saw when you

1:11:57

trained tyron woodley oh man sort of struggle yeah yeah and he's another dude

1:12:02

that looks like he's on

1:12:03

steroids yeah but he's not naturally just he got that beautiful roll of the

1:12:08

dice yep a genetic roll

1:12:10

of the dice that's exactly right and by the way tyron if you're listening you

1:12:14

have not been back

1:12:17

and i would like for you to come back you can't to do the type of fighting that

1:12:21

he does though you

1:12:22

can't really lift the way you had him lift all the time oh no no no no no no uh

1:12:27

no it would just be

1:12:28

uh incorporation most most fighters just use uh weightlifting as a tool yeah

1:12:34

and just when they

1:12:35

come um they want to test themselves when they come and train with me see what's

1:12:41

up yeah one time i just

1:12:43

want to see yeah you know what i can do if i can take it if i can take it or

1:12:47

not you know but a lot

1:12:49

of motherfucking set yeah no matter what no matter what and those those guys do

1:12:54

really well because

1:12:56

it's so much mental sure involved in it you know and they the minds are tough

1:13:01

the emma guys minds are

1:13:02

tough and they they do real well no you don't get tougher it's just you just oh

1:13:06

yeah you just get

1:13:07

different yeah you know i mean like i said about ultra marathon runners or any

1:13:11

anybody who does

1:13:12

anything that's extremely grueling and brutal you don't you don't get tougher

1:13:16

you just find a

1:13:16

different different path exactly for that sort of toughness yeah and it always

1:13:21

leads through the

1:13:22

mind that path always leads through the mind man yeah that whole expression

1:13:26

that idle hands or the

1:13:27

devil's play things that's so true that's so goddamn true yeah people need they

1:13:32

need something they need a

1:13:33

cause they need a struggle they need they need something hard they need

1:13:36

something difficult to

1:13:37

define themselves through if they don't they just they get scattered and

1:13:41

insecure and crazy but

1:13:43

through that struggle you you gain confidence and character you you know who

1:13:47

you are you know who you

1:13:48

are man yeah you could you could pull off a workout with ct fletcher at the end

1:13:52

of that workout you're

1:13:54

sitting there on that bench drinking water you know who the you are you did it

1:13:59

yeah people need to know

1:14:01

that they did it yeah people need that they need i did it you need i did it all

1:14:05

the time you need i

1:14:06

did it like five days a week it's true if i take a couple days off i feel like

1:14:10

man i gotta go do

1:14:11

something yeah i don't yeah you feel bad yeah i still want to show me how to

1:14:17

kick i'll show you how

1:14:19

man not now we'll do it slow yeah let me recover a little more yeah well the

1:14:24

good thing is the best way

1:14:25

to learn is slow oh well i'm ready yeah technique i'll be real slow yeah the

1:14:31

people the real problem

1:14:32

with strong people is that they want to put their strength into it you know and

1:14:36

you know you want to

1:14:37

like really just grunt yeah the best it's hard for strong dudes to learn how to

1:14:43

kick properly

1:14:44

it really is well it's it's perfect time for me to learn yeah because they put

1:14:49

so much grunt into

1:14:50

everything oftentimes they're not pivoting so they put too much pressure on

1:14:53

their leg they want to pop

1:14:54

on their knee yeah i mean there's a lot a lot of i seen you kicking man i said

1:15:00

god damn

1:15:03

joe's got some of the meanest kicks i have ever seen from anybody i'm like i

1:15:10

didn't know you could

1:15:12

kick that hard man it's a funny thing um there's a guy named john donoher who's

1:15:16

a jiu-jitsu genius

1:15:18

and uh he came to me once and it turned out he actually knew but he was playing

1:15:23

it off like he

1:15:23

didn't know he was telling me that he wanted george st pierre who was the interweight

1:15:27

champion you

1:15:28

know i know he's one of my favorites man yeah they wanted him to get some

1:15:34

coaching on his uh spinning

1:15:36

back kick there was like uh he's he thinks the fundamentals are a little bit

1:15:40

off do you know

1:15:40

anybody and i was like all right this is gonna sound crazy i know i'm a

1:15:44

comedian i don't know i'm just a

1:15:46

commentator but i i have a really good spinning back kick i'm like i could show

1:15:50

you how to do it and i

1:15:51

could show you as good as any human being that's ever lived i'm like i could

1:15:54

show you how to do that

1:15:55

that was my i mean but when i was a kid man i you know it's hard for me to even

1:16:01

talk about it now

1:16:02

because it seems like a like a different life like a different person from the

1:16:07

time i was 15 till i was

1:16:08

21 i was obsessed i i trained all day every day i mean that's what i did i

1:16:14

basically lived there

1:16:17

and so that's where i developed all that obsession they say it's a bad word

1:16:22

yeah i don't think so no

1:16:23

to find my life yeah if it's a bad life you know i mean i've had a good life i've

1:16:29

had a good life

1:16:30

through obsession eggs damn yeah coin that phrase but i'm also had a good life

1:16:36

through obsession i'm

1:16:37

careful with that yeah like a bad dog i keep that on a leash and i keep it away

1:16:42

from the wrong

1:16:43

people yeah damn that joe's got some good sayings like you have to be careful

1:16:49

like jamie knows we've

1:16:50

been having problems with this goddamn quake game we play play uh this video

1:16:55

game first person shooter

1:16:56

called quake and i have a real problem i get obsessed with things where i want

1:17:00

to play all day

1:17:00

long i want to play eight ten hours a day i can't i don't allow myself to but

1:17:04

that's the same thing

1:17:06

it's the same thing that got me into martial arts when i was a kid i have a up

1:17:11

brain but it's

1:17:12

fucked up in a good it's it as long as i know how to guide it as long as the

1:17:16

the managers in the

1:17:17

building the manager is me right now going hey settle the down all right you

1:17:22

got to do you got

1:17:23

a family you got stuff to do you can't just go run off and decide you're going

1:17:28

to be a professional

1:17:29

this or a professional that because that's what my brain wants to do my brain

1:17:32

wants to find something

1:17:34

and go what's what's this thing okay let's be the best in the world we're going

1:17:36

to be the best in

1:17:37

the world at this this is this is every day you're going to wake up and they're

1:17:40

like hey hey hey hey

1:17:41

hey i gotta pay taxes you know i love that too because you are not alone no

1:17:49

there's a bunch of

1:17:50

us out there yeah it is a bunch and a whole lot of them are in the ufc yeah but

1:17:55

there's a whole lot

1:17:56

of them out there in jobs right now yeah crazy yeah going crazy like tapping

1:17:59

their fingers on the

1:18:00

desk just can't wait to get out to what the they want to do when they get off

1:18:02

work

1:18:03

ain't that something i spent 28 years at the post office man i hate thinking

1:18:09

about it yeah

1:18:11

i can't wait to get off and you know go do what i really yeah yeah it's a lot

1:18:17

of people out there

1:18:18

listening that have that same feeling oh man punching the clock every day and

1:18:21

they hate it

1:18:22

hate it and you're not alone trust me not alone for 28 years yeah i hated it

1:18:27

whenever i had a job

1:18:29

whatever job i had i hated it and i had a bunch of part-time jobs because i

1:18:33

wouldn't

1:18:33

take a real job on because i was so scared that if i had like a real nine to

1:18:37

five and then started

1:18:38

getting a career and then have a family got married i've been trapped yeah

1:18:42

trapped i was that's that was

1:18:43

me i was definitely trapped i had kids at home they had to eat so yeah nothing

1:18:47

you gotta i mean and then

1:18:49

you you take that time when you get off and that's your obsession time then

1:18:52

yeah and there's a lot of

1:18:53

people that live that life you know and what i've always tell people is before

1:18:57

you have all those other

1:18:58

things a mortgage and family and all that other stuff damn dude funnel that

1:19:03

energy into you into

1:19:05

what you like you could live a a wonderful existence and a charmed life if you

1:19:11

could do what i mean

1:19:13

whatever it is what you like making knives or painting whatever the you like to

1:19:17

do if that's

1:19:18

your thing and you think about it all the time god damn you gotta find a way to

1:19:21

do that yeah that is your

1:19:23

call oh most definitely excellent advice from joe rogan he is so so right man

1:19:30

and before you get

1:19:31

you know the wife the kids the mortgage because then you're trapped yeah but

1:19:36

the mind everyone's

1:19:37

mind is so different you know there's some people that they don't have that

1:19:41

obsessed mind their mind

1:19:43

is like they're better off like you know running a country store somewhere just

1:19:48

being real friendly to

1:19:50

people to come in and being a baker and making good food for folks yeah there's

1:19:55

some people that that's

1:19:55

their thing that's their calling and that you know that's perfectly fine is the

1:19:59

people you know people

1:20:00

that annoy the out of me i love you but you annoy the out of me it's people

1:20:05

that have

1:20:06

no ambition no drive whatsoever i'm just happy not doing i always wonder about

1:20:12

that damn it i was

1:20:14

i always wonder like what if i got them when they were little what if i got a

1:20:17

hold of them when they

1:20:18

were little and and and just introduced them to exciting things and rewarded

1:20:22

them when they did

1:20:23

well and high-fived them and hugged them you know what i mean like it could

1:20:27

possibly change it yeah

1:20:30

reinforcement of of positive goals and reinforcement of positive experiences i

1:20:37

think there's some people

1:20:37

that just they never got any of that and everything was just work and just drudgery

1:20:43

and they'd rather

1:20:44

just lay around because that is the alternative to work and drudgery wow i'm i'm

1:20:50

i gave a speech and

1:20:51

i'm talking about obsession and being driven and all this and you know one of

1:20:56

the questions after this guy was

1:20:58

asking me so uh what if you know you what if you don't want to do anything you

1:21:03

don't have any uh goals

1:21:05

or obsessions uh could you tell me how to get one and i was like fuck how do i

1:21:13

tell this motherfucker

1:21:16

his you know he wanted one he said he wanted one i want to find a goal or

1:21:21

something but i don't know you

1:21:24

i don't know you i don't know i we just you know it's first time i ever met you

1:21:28

and you're asking me

1:21:29

how to give you uh an obsession or or make a give you and i go i don't think i

1:21:35

can tell you is find

1:21:36

something do you have anything that you love is there anything that you love

1:21:40

anything that you like to do

1:21:42

then you know start there dude yeah start if you if but if if the person looks

1:21:48

back at you says no not

1:21:50

really right then i'm like this dude is irking the yeah but you mean it you don't

1:21:57

have

1:21:58

any thing that you really nothing nothing nothing comes up i know there's some

1:22:04

people that have

1:22:05

nothing yeah some people it is nothing there's nothing absolutely and that you

1:22:10

know uh you people

1:22:11

i love you guys but um you bug the out of me man just you don't have a cause or

1:22:20

go or nothing that really

1:22:22

you know excites you that you really want to make a difference you just you're

1:22:28

happy being blase

1:22:30

and average i just want to be a cog man i just want to be a cogs do you think

1:22:39

that the world needs cogs

1:22:41

do you think that some people like here's here's a thought like not everybody

1:22:45

could be a psychopath

1:22:46

right not not everybody could be obsessed by things the world would be too

1:22:50

insane and regular

1:22:51

stuff would never get done right right you and i aren't getting regular done no

1:22:56

you know but how

1:22:57

about being the best fucking cog there is i'ma be the best fucking cog there is

1:23:03

man i'ma support the

1:23:04

out of joe rogan i don't know man i don't know what people i i don't i would

1:23:09

like to and i think

1:23:12

one day we're going to probably be able to experience this through technology i

1:23:15

would like to know how

1:23:16

people think like i would like i would like to know like what is going on in

1:23:21

someone's head when they

1:23:22

experience like some sometimes things will happen to you in life and you're

1:23:26

just in the worst possible

1:23:28

state of mind when it happens and sometimes it's the best possible state of

1:23:32

mind and sometimes when

1:23:33

it's the best possible state of mind something that should be like catastrophic

1:23:36

like eh it'll be

1:23:37

all right you know like the person who did it to you like look man i know you

1:23:40

didn't mean to do it's

1:23:41

all right don't worry about it take it easy and then you just drop it and you

1:23:44

like feel good about

1:23:45

it and then other times like that guy i'm gonna kill that guy and it's all like

1:23:50

it's all in like

1:23:51

how are you wired that day like what what's how are you coming into it you

1:23:55

coming into this with a lot

1:23:56

of stress you got a lot of other piling up in your life or you coming into this

1:24:00

fresh off a heart

1:24:01

transplant where you feel love for the world and you and you have like a newfound

1:24:07

enlightenment where

1:24:09

you realize that this is all all this nonsense and fighting and arguing for

1:24:14

nothing like why

1:24:15

why you do you enjoy relax appreciate don't matter it just ain't that serious

1:24:22

and have passion for your

1:24:24

existence and and what you enjoy what you truly love and and your friends and

1:24:28

camaraderie and and

1:24:30

fellowship that's what it's all about yeah and i think um you know that they

1:24:34

got a whole

1:24:35

uh field of psychologists and psychiatrists that's their field and some of the

1:24:41

worst uh some of the most

1:24:45

mentally challenged people i've ever met were psychiatrists i'm like what the i

1:24:53

have a theory

1:24:53

about that i have a theory about that i have a theory about that that's very

1:24:57

similar in my theory

1:24:58

about cops you know i have a deep respect for cops me too and uh i think it's

1:25:03

an insanely difficult job

1:25:05

just same my same feeling i have for soldiers like you cannot expect someone to

1:25:10

just do that with no

1:25:11

guidance and no no you you have to have an appreciation for the stress they go

1:25:17

through

1:25:18

every time a cop pulls somebody over this might be the last moment of their

1:25:22

life every time they come

1:25:23

to that window and it's tinted and they don't know who the is in there and what

1:25:26

kind of warrant that guy

1:25:27

might have they don't have any idea and we've all seen videos online of cops

1:25:31

getting shot and people

1:25:32

getting killed it happens and they're everyone they're dealing with is lying to

1:25:37

them everyone they're

1:25:37

dealing with is if you're a psychiatrist every day you're dealing with people

1:25:43

who are every day

1:25:45

everyone's up everyone's and some some of their up is nonsense and you just

1:25:49

want to grab them and

1:25:50

shake them by the collar and get your together man what the is wrong with you

1:25:55

come on you know there's something wrong stop doing what you're doing stupid

1:25:59

but you can't even say that so you have to go so mike um uh you know uh you're

1:26:05

you're still getting

1:26:06

tied up by that woman and she still kicks you in the balls crazy that people

1:26:10

are into like imagine

1:26:12

every day you're showing up and everyone's nuts everyone you work with yep you

1:26:16

know i'm very

1:26:17

fortunate i show up here i get to talk to nice people like you i hang out with

1:26:20

great people like jamie and

1:26:22

every everyone's fun here it's all nice my experiences on a daily basis are

1:26:27

very mostly positive i go to the

1:26:28

comedy store hang out with comedians i do jiu-jitsu hang out with jiu-jitsu

1:26:32

guys it's a fun experience

1:26:34

these are good experiences psychiatrists are just dealing with crazy all day

1:26:39

long that's their chosen

1:26:40

to deal with next yeah when i was um when i was briefly in college one of the

1:26:45

things that i was

1:26:46

concentrating on was psychology because i was trying to find out what like i

1:26:50

knew there was times when i

1:26:52

fought and i was very confident and i knew there was times that i thought that

1:26:55

i was a nervous wreck

1:26:56

and i was like why what is that that feeling of nerves where you're scared is

1:27:00

very compromising

1:27:01

it fucks with your performance oh my god yeah i mean look you you might get hit

1:27:05

you might lose you

1:27:06

this could happen but to dwell on that is crippling like you got to be able to

1:27:11

accept those consequences

1:27:13

but you also have to not dwell so you have to be zen and so i was reading a lot

1:27:16

of psychology books and

1:27:18

philosophy books a lot of samurai books and um but one thing i realized in

1:27:23

talking to people that were

1:27:24

like psychologists or psychology majors like you're dealing with up people yeah

1:27:30

all the time

1:27:31

especially psychiatrists oh and then they're prescribing them drugs like here

1:27:36

you go get out of here take

1:27:37

this my best buddy my best buddies like i was crazy man he was he was crazy

1:27:43

yeah very nice guy but it's

1:27:45

crazy i think you get crazy yeah i think you get crazy dealing with all those

1:27:49

people all the time too

1:27:50

man yeah i mean if your day is blocked off you have your secretary and then you

1:27:54

got patients all day

1:27:55

long that are out of their mind yeah yeah very good point it's a terrible diet

1:28:00

yeah you know but

1:28:03

you know i don't know if you knew but i used to um do tournament fighting um

1:28:08

karate style yeah yeah and

1:28:11

the reason the what discouraged me or or made me know that i didn't want to be

1:28:16

a fighter is just what

1:28:17

you described the anxiety oh yeah it would it was paralyzing it was paralyzing

1:28:25

yeah i mean um i'd be

1:28:27

frozen with and it's it's so crazy i mean the last term i was with ed parker's

1:28:33

uh international karate

1:28:35

championships in uh long beach california and i mean if i until my feet were

1:28:42

stuck and i was a taekwondo

1:28:46

black belt but my feet were frozen to the fucking mat i couldn't lift them my

1:28:51

legs weighed a thousand

1:28:53

pounds each man i was so paralyzed because all these people it was all these

1:28:57

people were around and i was

1:28:59

so afraid that i was going to do something to embarrass myself and i'm like oh

1:29:05

my god everybody's looking

1:29:07

and you know it's a bunch of matches going on at the same time yeah but it felt

1:29:11

like everybody was

1:29:12

looking at me and i'm like man they're gonna watch me do something my technique's

1:29:17

gonna be wrong or it's

1:29:18

got i'm just gonna up in front and the the fear was paralyzing i'm like you

1:29:24

know i can't do this

1:29:26

i'm not cut out to be a fighter man i just can't the pressure just kicked my

1:29:31

ass it's a it's a hard

1:29:33

thing to overcome oh it's it's hard to sort your way through it it's what's

1:29:36

really hard for a lot

1:29:37

of fighters is coming back from a loss oh yeah they get beat up and smashed and

1:29:42

then then they have to

1:29:43

come back and figure out a way through you know and um especially a devastating

1:29:48

loss of course you

1:29:49

see it again but a devastating loss you know raymond daniels is of course the

1:29:53

goat did you see his

1:29:54

fight this past weekend did you see that 720 degree punch i mean go to bellator

1:30:00

and find that clip man

1:30:02

we won't be able to show it right yeah i can show you guys again yeah just show

1:30:07

us so for for folks who

1:30:08

don't know well one of the reasons i brought up raymond daniels is raymond daniels

1:30:12

oh he's a

1:30:12

bellator kickboxing champion now he lost in devastating fashion to nikki holtzkin

1:30:18

who's uh another world

1:30:19

champion and uh also to joseph valtellini who's another world champion so when

1:30:23

he was making the

1:30:24

transition from karate champion to kickboxing champion he had some stumbling

1:30:29

yeah i mean it didn't

1:30:30

didn't go 100 smooth right but that guy's got an iron will man um stunt coordinators

1:30:38

in movies watch this

1:30:41

look at ray mcdan raymond daniel's high rise look at that that's it it's crazy

1:30:48

he went for a 360

1:30:49

roundhouse kick the dude wasn't there and then he continued to spin further and

1:30:53

then boom i mean that is

1:30:55

insane that is such an insane and to land a punch at the end of that i mean

1:31:00

that is so bananas and he

1:31:02

landed a spinning back kick to the body right before he did that too yeah i

1:31:06

mean he did a thing find the

1:31:08

thing he did in um in in uh glory he did a jumping side kick spinning back kick

1:31:15

combination where he

1:31:16

touched him he touched him with the front leg and then spun in the air and

1:31:20

spinning back kicked there

1:31:22

it is right here yeah i mean this is crazy yeah he oh here watch watch how he

1:31:30

does let let this go

1:31:31

here it goes watch he touches up top pain i mean that is movie and to do that

1:31:38

to a world-class

1:31:39

kickboxer like that that's what i'm saying i mean the the movie stunt coordinators

1:31:43

are looking at

1:31:44

his highlights already goes high to come up with you know fight scenes this

1:31:48

dude is he does stuff that

1:31:49

they don't even do in the movies in a real fight yeah yeah and like me he's

1:31:54

hard to handle he he i gave a

1:31:57

a pep talk or speech to a group of fighters and he was in the group that came

1:32:04

out and then i got

1:32:05

to find i got to meet i'm like man i don't know it's a fan a fanboy big time oh

1:32:09

ray mcdaniel's ray mcdaniel's

1:32:11

he's a bad motherfucker oh he's bad i love watching those guys and like guys

1:32:15

like michael venom page

1:32:16

who's another one who has those karate skills but then they're learning all the

1:32:20

the skills of mma yeah

1:32:22

and then you see like man if you don't know that karate style and he knows mma

1:32:27

like you're kind of

1:32:27

because they do that's like outlandish yeah like you know venom page yeah yeah

1:32:33

that guy does outlandish

1:32:34

ridiculous and he's he's so long too and his his timing and movement is so

1:32:40

unpredictable and he can

1:32:42

sprint at you and you don't even all of a sudden bang he's punching you in the

1:32:46

face

1:32:46

you saw that that knockout when he knocked out cyborg and caved his head in

1:32:50

with that knee

1:32:52

the cave the man's head in yes i've seen thousands of fights i never saw a man

1:32:57

get his head caved in

1:32:59

ever and you know how hard it is look at his forehead look at that look at his

1:33:05

skull his his head is

1:33:07

pushed in i mean man that was is that the video above it does that show the

1:33:12

actual knockout right

1:33:14

no that's not it yeah that is it that is it yeah that's why i mean but look how

1:33:18

he fights too hands

1:33:19

down i mean that is crazy if you know how tough that guy is to see him riding

1:33:25

in agony like that

1:33:27

i remember his fight with uh it was one of the best mma fights ever the real

1:33:32

muscular guy he's real

1:33:34

muscular cyborg yeah no yeah cyborg had a fight with this this another oh he's

1:33:40

he's kind of on the the

1:33:41

downhill now but at one time he was like the mike tyson of mma he's built uh i

1:33:48

know you know who i'm

1:33:50

talking about melvin manhoof yes yeah i knew you knew did you see cyborg and

1:33:55

man i did see that fight

1:33:56

yeah melvin is a motherfucker man he's another one man man yeah came from that

1:34:04

uh he's he comes from um

1:34:07

mike's gym in holland which is a famous kickboxing gym for savages just yeah

1:34:12

just war yeah the young

1:34:15

a young man was a yeah there it is oh there it is and melvin is built like a

1:34:22

yeah too

1:34:23

he was another one unbelievable power and speed when he was in his prime yep

1:34:28

but he's not the same

1:34:29

anymore you're right he's been through so many wars but but man that dude was

1:34:33

super bad and he always

1:34:34

wore those gladiator trucks too yeah yeah he's one of my one of my favorite but

1:34:38

that showed you how

1:34:40

tough cyborg was yeah that was a war that was in cage warriors i think that was

1:34:44

man that was a war

1:34:45

yeah yeah i mean i've had the privilege watching so many great fighters fight

1:34:51

it's interesting to watch

1:34:52

all the different styles and all the but the thing that they all have all the

1:34:56

great ones have they have

1:34:57

this unstoppable belief in themselves even if they lose they just they learn

1:35:02

they lose they learn they

1:35:03

come back they get better uh one of my favorite interviews was hoist gracie and

1:35:09

man uh his mentality

1:35:11

he says you know i make no plans for after the fight

1:35:17

like yeah i love these guys guys guys nuts yeah you're ready to die he's not

1:35:23

saying that he said i see

1:35:24

guys now talking about the after party and and meet me over here said no no no

1:35:30

i i am prepared

1:35:31

to die in the octagon like hell yeah i was eating that up joe yeah because i

1:35:41

was prepared to die

1:35:43

on the weightlifting platform the doc says hey if you go ct your head with a

1:35:48

valve could burst right

1:35:50

there on stage you die in front of all those people good good that's the way i

1:35:56

want to go you have to be

1:35:59

if you want to if you want real greatness you have to be able to give it all

1:36:02

away but to find somebody

1:36:04

else is that crazy dude i was like man i thought i was the only one did you see

1:36:07

the middleweight

1:36:08

championship fight between uh calvin gaslam and israel adesanya a stylebender

1:36:12

did you see that fight of

1:36:14

course right before the fifth round it means a close fight and stylebender came

1:36:18

out and just destroyed

1:36:20

in the fifth round but right before that he said i'm ready to die he said it he

1:36:25

said it in his like you

1:36:25

see it he's looking at him he goes i'm ready to die i heard that man you know

1:36:30

that oh man oh yeah

1:36:32

that was one of those just unbelievable moments and i love kevin calvin's a

1:36:39

beast he's a beast man

1:36:41

it was a great he was also at the the talk in the speech that i gave him the rd

1:36:45

goat kevin was there

1:36:47

he's a young guy yeah and he's still a young guy and he really should be

1:36:51

fighting at 170.

1:36:53

honestly i mean he's yeah yeah i mean he fought at 170. he just

1:36:56

he likes to eat you know it's just a hell of a lot a hell of a heart i love

1:37:01

that guy man kevin if you

1:37:03

listen i love you man kelvin's a beast yeah he's he's not even near his full

1:37:06

potential yet i don't

1:37:07

think uh stylebender is either oh no he's still a young guy yeah i mean stylebender

1:37:13

is better now

1:37:14

than he was in his first fight in the ufc which was only about 16 months ago

1:37:17

yeah he's better now

1:37:19

he's trouble for anybody man he's an assassin that guy has um he's probably the

1:37:24

most technical striker

1:37:26

that's ever fought in the ufc so technical all right but um okay let me ask you

1:37:30

about this i heard

1:37:31

a rumor of him and john jones no no no they're just talking to each other oh

1:37:38

yeah um john was talking

1:37:40

about him and he was talking about john you know that maybe they'll fight john

1:37:44

is way bigger john's

1:37:46

a big man yes i know yeah and it's bad well so stylebender man i mean maybe one

1:37:53

day they could fight

1:37:54

but john i think john's future is in heavyweight i really do i think john is

1:37:59

going to clean out the

1:37:59

light heavyweight division and then move up and i think he's probably going to

1:38:03

try to catch dc before

1:38:04

dc steps out because dc is going to fight against steep amy oczyk they're going

1:38:08

to have a rematch

1:38:09

and then i think um dc versus john jones yeah at heavyweight i think john wants

1:38:14

to go up there and

1:38:15

take that heavyweight title you know but i think dc has a better chance against

1:38:18

him at heavyweight

1:38:19

i don't think dc likes cutting weight and i don't think it's good for his

1:38:22

performance or his durability

1:38:24

or anything you know i think i mean judging by his fights with uh derek lewis

1:38:30

who's a huge guy yes and

1:38:32

knocking out stipe myocic who's nobody's ever been able to do it like that

1:38:35

before the way dc did it i

1:38:37

mean dc says that heavyweight is just way more powerful hits harder takes a

1:38:42

punch better you know

1:38:43

i mean he's not a tall guy he's only 5'11 but he's as wide as his table yeah dc's

1:38:49

a tank of a man and

1:38:50

his wrestling ability is just phenomenal but that's why john so goddamn

1:38:55

impressive john took him down yeah

1:38:58

john went right at him with wrestling's like motherfucker i'm gonna take you

1:39:02

down and scare you

1:39:03

john jones is my favorite MMA fighter that dude is if he's not the greatest of

1:39:08

all time he's in the

1:39:09

conversation he's in the conversation it's like me my my opinion is that mighty

1:39:13

mouse johnson is the

1:39:14

greatest of all time but the caveat is that mighty mouse never really fought

1:39:18

the caliber caliber of

1:39:20

competition that john jones did john jones first fight in the ufc for a title

1:39:24

he's fighting mauricio

1:39:26

shogunhua who is a legend yeah that's john's first fight and john opens up with

1:39:31

a flying knee

1:39:32

yeah i mean oh a flying knee that's a legend yeah you know chokes leota machida

1:39:36

completely unconscious

1:39:38

you know chokes out rampage chokes out he's just smashed everybody yeah john

1:39:42

smashed everybody he's only

1:39:43

lost one time that's a loss yeah yeah it was it was a loss a disqualification

1:39:48

the fight that he was

1:39:48

dominating yep he's a freak man he's a real freak he most definitely is my

1:39:53

favorite especially since

1:39:54

he told me listens to my ass he said before i fight i always listen to you i am

1:39:59

the one speak ct

1:40:01

hell yes he's something special you know he really is he's something special

1:40:07

and i think um you know he's

1:40:09

had some troubles in his life and troubles but i think he's got that behind him

1:40:13

i really do and i think

1:40:14

he's you know i mean he hasn't had a near-death experience but i think he's had

1:40:19

so many like

1:40:19

near career experiences that he appreciates it now and i also think to be that

1:40:26

good you gotta

1:40:27

be crazy and i think john jones is crazy and he's just getting his crazy online

1:40:31

he's just getting his

1:40:32

crazy in order yeah like keep my crazy under wraps just keep my crazy together

1:40:37

yep keep it together if you're

1:40:38

gonna be that good you gotta be a wild oh yeah you gotta be wild that's that's

1:40:42

what he is he's smart

1:40:44

too though he's got like the perfect combination of things like smart and wild

1:40:48

yeah you know and

1:40:49

physically talented like and then and then long long as for the weight class

1:40:54

and he's very strong too

1:40:55

oh yeah yeah yeah i've seen him weightlifting man i've been trying to get john

1:41:00

jones into the value of

1:41:01

the beast he'll go he'll go he's strong maybe after the fight with uh tiago

1:41:06

santos he'll have some time

1:41:08

off yeah but he uh it's interesting his coaches thought that his power lifting

1:41:12

was a bad idea for him

1:41:13

apparently not coaches well they think that he got really into that before the

1:41:18

osp fight remember he

1:41:19

had a big stretch of time off and then the osp fight he didn't look as good but

1:41:24

i credit that to

1:41:25

osp i just think that osp fought a real hard fight and he's a real big strong

1:41:30

guy and he's

1:41:31

fucking dangerous yeah and i think yeah i think that it's just one of those

1:41:37

things where stylistically

1:41:40

you know ovens fought a really good fight and i mean ovens had a broken arm for

1:41:44

i think the last round

1:41:46

you know you found that round with a shattered arm never let anybody know didn't

1:41:49

say a goddamn word

1:41:50

about his forearm snapped yeah you gotta be a tough son to do that man it's the

1:41:56

hardest game in the world

1:41:58

next to being a cop or a firefighter or a soldier mma fighter is the hardest

1:42:02

game in the world yeah i i

1:42:04

totally agree um i'm glad you uh brought up soldiers because as i'm a veteran i'm

1:42:11

a veteran myself

1:42:12

and i you know have a lot of uh um ptsd i was hoping that during the

1:42:18

conversation we could get a ptsd

1:42:21

in there some kind of way because my dad uh suffered from ptsd big time he went

1:42:28

in the uh korean war

1:42:30

at age 16. uh he got a guy yeah he had a guy uh signed for him uh and said he

1:42:37

was his dad and he was

1:42:40

able to to get in for a while like that and that was uh uh i that was i give

1:42:49

him a pass on a lot of

1:42:51

the crazy shit he did because of that right you know he never sit down and had

1:42:56

a conversation with me

1:42:58

about it i never talked to my dad for more than five minutes at a time you know

1:43:05

when i talked to him

1:43:07

growing up never be more than five minutes at a time in in our whole life my

1:43:12

whole life you know

1:43:13

he died when he was 86 and i'm 50 something i was 57 8 somewhere around there

1:43:19

before we had a maybe

1:43:21

10 minute conversation that was just me apologizing to him for you know hating

1:43:27

him yeah we talked about

1:43:29

this yeah just but he had the pd you know what they call it a shell shot yeah

1:43:34

back then so i explained to

1:43:36

me it was an explanation for a lot of his uh um over-the-top behavior i can't

1:43:41

imagine myself at 16 being

1:43:44

you know gunfire seeing dead dead guys all around me i know i would have been a

1:43:50

uh a mental mess also

1:43:54

so i gave him a lot of uh and it's such a a problem now ptsd with soldiers now

1:44:01

they have the 21 push-ups

1:44:04

for the 21 veterans who kill themselves every day uh from ptsd so it's a big uh

1:44:11

cause for me i want to

1:44:13

you know do everything i can do to try to bring awareness for the my fellow

1:44:19

veterans out there that

1:44:20

are suffering from that too so i'm with you guys i'm with you vets yeah it's uh

1:44:26

what we were talking

1:44:27

about before to ask someone to be able to get through that yeah it's an it's a

1:44:32

incredible ask i

1:44:33

want to ask your opinion about something joe do you think a police chief or or

1:44:41

if a if a guy can be do you

1:44:44

think a guy can possibly rise to police chief without ever having been an

1:44:50

officer himself

1:44:52

it doesn't seem like you should be okay do you think a guy can be a fire chief

1:44:59

without ever having

1:45:00

been a fireman himself doesn't seem like you should be do you think a guy can

1:45:06

be the commander in chief

1:45:07

of our armed forces without ever having been a soldier himself doesn't seem

1:45:12

like you should be

1:45:13

thank you joe yeah it's i think it's way too easy to be commander-in-chief yeah

1:45:20

like it how many how

1:45:22

many people what if that was like a prerequisite you had to serve like uh like

1:45:26

in the israeli army if

1:45:28

you're in the israeli army everyone has to serve there's a certain amount of

1:45:32

time everyone has to put in

1:45:33

south korean army same thing you have to serve you know uh chan sung jung who's

1:45:38

a top level ufc fighter

1:45:39

took two years off his career because that was the requirement with the south korean

1:45:43

army they had him

1:45:44

serve um i think that if you are going to be able to tell people where they go

1:45:51

and that they have to

1:45:53

risk their life on a campaign that many people might think is fruitless or even

1:45:57

worse many people might

1:45:59

think it's financially motivated and not necessary and you're asking some

1:46:03

someone's son to go over

1:46:04

there and die for that preach yes you you should have some understanding about

1:46:09

what you're saying

1:46:10

you should you should have served i think it's impossible for you to have a

1:46:18

good understanding a

1:46:19

grasp of what you're asking if you haven't experienced it yourself but now let's

1:46:28

go back and look at all

1:46:29

the presidents how many of them served barack obama never served george w bush

1:46:34

didn't serve but

1:46:36

george herbert walker bush served and you know he's actually shot down in world

1:46:41

war ii right um

1:46:43

clinton never served nixon never served i mean you got to go and i think that

1:46:50

none of them

1:46:51

should have been able to be commander-in-chief of the armed forces that's just

1:46:58

my feeling if you didn't

1:46:59

serve you shouldn't they got plenty of generals that could fill that spot yeah

1:47:05

i think that they should

1:47:07

change whatever they need to change whatever law whatever it is to change that

1:47:12

the commander-in-chief

1:47:13

of the armed forces has to be has to be us have been a soldier they have a lot

1:47:20

of five-star generals

1:47:22

a lot of guys at the top that have been in the military that didn't know what

1:47:25

their experience let

1:47:28

them be the commander-in-chief of the armed forces these are the 12 presidents

1:47:31

who did not serve in the

1:47:32

military so wait wait a minute nixon did nixon served he's a commander of the

1:47:38

naval reserve it says oh

1:47:40

okay um but clinton didn't no rock fdr hoover coolidge hardy interesting but um

1:47:49

george w

1:47:51

w bush didn't serve did he i think he was a reserve for a small period of time

1:47:56

or something oh that's

1:47:58

right yeah there was some shenanigans they got him out of i think trump had

1:48:03

like eight deferments like

1:48:05

feet hurt or some shit bones spurs how do you get bones birds by never working

1:48:10

out ever how does that

1:48:12

happen he's kind of funny though man the not working out thing he thinks his

1:48:16

body's uh like a battery

1:48:18

and then thinks like if you you work out you use up your your juice oh well

1:48:23

that is you've got a finite

1:48:25

number of heartbeats or something like that is that what he said yeah there's

1:48:28

other people that believe

1:48:28

that too i've looked it up well that is but they do believe that that's the

1:48:32

case but here's the thing

1:48:33

when you train you it lowers your heart rate that's what people don't

1:48:37

understand most definitely like

1:48:38

michael bisping has a 34 beats per minute resting heart rate yep most fat fucks

1:48:44

out there have like 78

1:48:46

80 you know that they're they're wasting marathon runners yeah yeah it's super

1:48:51

low but yeah and then

1:48:52

when you're taking speed right they take diet pills he just described me as a

1:48:58

fat fuck not mine is like

1:49:00

78 80. no no no no no no you ain't a fat fuck you you know what i'm saying i'm

1:49:07

alive

1:49:10

but if even if that is true i mean there's no real evidence that that's no that

1:49:15

is true i think um

1:49:18

yeah i think anybody that is going to tell people that they have to fight for

1:49:24

our country should

1:49:25

have had to fight most or at least should have had to serve serve you

1:49:28

understand yeah yeah you have

1:49:30

to have you don't have to necessarily have had military i mean it's not your

1:49:34

fault if you didn't see

1:49:34

right right i agree with that you know i'm not a calm you don't have to be a

1:49:38

combat vet but at least

1:49:40

been have been willing that when you were called yes to accept the call yeah

1:49:47

and step up and you know

1:49:49

because by doing that you're saying and when i sign this piece of paper that i

1:49:55

don't know if there's

1:49:55

going to be a conflict there's going to be a war or not but i'm signing up if

1:49:59

there is

1:50:01

i'm available i'm here man so we're always hoping for the best right with with

1:50:06

presidents but it

1:50:07

always disappoints us like no no one no one's been the most amazing no one has

1:50:11

ever like the one

1:50:12

person where you look back and go man that mother nailed everything they got it

1:50:16

right they got it

1:50:16

right with whistleblowers they got it right with human rights they got it right

1:50:20

with freedom of

1:50:21

speech they got it right with everything they got it right with military

1:50:23

intervention they got it right

1:50:24

with regime change wars they got it right with everything they didn't do

1:50:28

anything wrong and man

1:50:30

everybody should be like them like a lot of goofy people look back to like ronald

1:50:34

reagan like they

1:50:35

said oh ronald reagan he was our guy like just that's just because it's a long

1:50:39

time ago and your

1:50:40

memory sucks like i remember i remember when people hated ronald reagan man i

1:50:44

remember when they were

1:50:45

trying to get him out of office like that wasn't that one didn't work either no

1:50:49

one no one's good at

1:50:49

the job they're gonna boy you're gonna get a lot of comments on that it's true

1:50:55

though i think it's an

1:50:57

impossible job to please everybody is always an impossible impossible it's an

1:51:01

impossibility no i don't

1:51:03

know anybody who not just please everybody but the idea that one person is

1:51:08

going to oversee every branch of

1:51:10

government the military the economy yes social issues censorship big tech yeah

1:51:18

problems with the

1:51:18

environment like what the are you crazy how could one person do all that it's

1:51:22

not possible no it's not

1:51:24

possible and and and do a wonderful job at it all too exactly yeah it's right i

1:51:30

mean i i don't understand

1:51:32

how it's even humanly possible i don't think a human i think that job should be

1:51:38

there should be a council

1:51:40

of wise people that decide things yeah and we should be able to decide whether

1:51:44

or not they're wise

1:51:45

you know i mean there should be i guess i guess that's what the election in

1:51:49

congress and the senate

1:51:51

that's supposedly what that i guess was yes that's what it's supposed to be it's

1:51:57

also like

1:51:59

it's too easy to vote i mean it's too easy to just say ah that guy you know

1:52:03

that guy i should you

1:52:04

should be able to like tell me why that guy like what's your reasoning does it

1:52:08

make sense did you

1:52:09

think this through or you just like that guy's a republican i'm a republican it

1:52:12

is that what you're

1:52:13

doing like what are you doing like you're making these choices you're throwing

1:52:17

your mark on this

1:52:18

piece of paper and that could affect the way the world swings like what's the

1:52:21

thought process behind

1:52:23

it so you think people should have to explain their votes i don't because i don't

1:52:28

think that

1:52:29

i think the right to vote should not be anything that's infringed upon in any

1:52:33

way shape or form

1:52:34

but it would be a lot better if people knew what the they were voting on

1:52:38

it would help it would help if they had a real understanding of it but people

1:52:42

don't have the

1:52:43

time that's the other problem man you know we're talking about people slaving

1:52:46

away all day

1:52:47

if someone's working all day eight hours a day how much time do they really

1:52:50

have to research foreign

1:52:51

policy how much time they have to research what's going wrong with the economy

1:52:56

sub you know subprime interest rate loans and all that how much time do people

1:53:02

know yeah they don't

1:53:03

they're you know they're concerned about what's going on in in their families

1:53:07

and they're trying

1:53:08

to get laid and they're trying to eat and they want to get to the game and uh

1:53:12

they got all that

1:53:13

yeah and then the avengers are out yeah man three hours long man there's there's

1:53:21

i stayed awake i

1:53:22

haven't seen it yet i heard it's great i stayed awake i heard it's great good

1:53:25

enough to keep me awake

1:53:26

that's that's uh that's saying something from the i go to sleep all the time is

1:53:31

it from the heart

1:53:32

transplant are you sleepier now no no i went to sleep all the time before the

1:53:36

heart transplant

1:53:37

no i get comfortable and it's over man yeah yeah it's over well that's that's

1:53:42

lights are out

1:53:43

that's the thing too with people who train a lot nobody with me yeah if you

1:53:48

train a lot though

1:53:48

you're always ready to take a nap oh yeah because your body's always like

1:53:52

recovering yeah i'm out man

1:53:56

no problem but overtraining is bullshit you think overtraining is bullshit oh

1:54:01

i know you don't i think i bet you think that it's not bullshit and overtraining

1:54:09

is very real

1:54:10

don't you yes i do yes i knew you would say that you know what rhabdomyelosis

1:54:14

is uh no i i have no

1:54:16

idea it's when you overtrain and you're literally your muscles start breaking

1:54:19

down to pollute your

1:54:20

kidneys people die from it wow that was a big ass long word and if you look in

1:54:26

the dictionary it'll

1:54:28

say no i think there's under resting under recuperation that's true but uh

1:54:39

overtraining

1:54:40

now if you get enough rest and enough recuperation i think overtraining is

1:54:44

bullshit right but if you

1:54:45

have to work out hard and then you have to work out again the next day and you

1:54:48

work out hard the next

1:54:49

day that's uh that's rhabdomyelosis piss when you get robbed though your piss

1:54:53

comes out looking like

1:54:54

iced tea yeah and i don't mean the rapper yeah he's more than a rapper though

1:55:01

right it's hard to say

1:55:02

he's a rapper he's a lot of things yeah he's a cool dude yeah i mean he has

1:55:07

body count so that's a

1:55:08

metal band so he has that too yeah yeah right he's cool um but yeah he looks

1:55:14

like diet coke let's say

1:55:15

that yeah that's what your piss looks like yeah it's fucked up yeah that's um

1:55:19

that's what happens

1:55:20

and i train every i work fucking eight hours a day eight ten twelve hours a day

1:55:24

at the post office

1:55:26

went to the gym put in another four to six hours for fucking 25 years and my

1:55:30

piss never looked like that

1:55:32

yeah i think that's more endurance athletes and uh particularly crossfit a lot

1:55:40

of crossfit people

1:55:41

get wrapped up oh yeah because they're competing against other people and they

1:55:44

get real wrapped up in

1:55:46

it and i gotta ask jason kalipa about this good friend of mine see if his piss

1:55:50

ever looked like

1:55:51

root beer it's a real real issue for uh crossfitters and like ultra endurance

1:55:57

athletes yeah yeah he's

1:55:59

one of the top crossfitters guys yeah he's like world champion two or three

1:56:03

times those guys are

1:56:04

ridiculously fit oh man ridiculously fit look i had him in the in my gym and i

1:56:09

put him through my

1:56:10

training he was one of the he did the like it was nothing yeah yeah he's that

1:56:16

guy crossfit me and you

1:56:18

know wait with this kind of laugh at crossfitters and like that's that's you

1:56:22

know you know girly

1:56:25

man it's bull crossfitting is but that is in extremely good shape yeah

1:56:32

crossfitting is definitely not is that him right there yeah this is definitely

1:56:35

not

1:56:36

bullshit no it's very hard yep what those guys do is very very very very hard

1:56:42

yeah the real

1:56:43

question is whether or not it's good for your body and that's where um that's

1:56:47

where and i'm not

1:56:49

qualified just to judge but there's a lot of people that are professional

1:56:55

strength and conditioning

1:56:56

coaches that frown upon it because they think that those kind of movements like

1:56:59

power lifting

1:56:59

movements like clean press that kind of yeah yeah that should not be done for

1:57:03

the maximum amount

1:57:04

of repetitions they think that should be done for power you should you know you

1:57:08

should hoist up

1:57:09

your maximum or 85 of your maximum for x amount of times and that's it but what

1:57:14

they're trying to

1:57:14

do is just you know if mike does 10 i want to do 12. right mike does 12 i want

1:57:18

to do 15.

1:57:20

you know and they they think that there's like steve maxwell who's a pretty

1:57:24

famous strength

1:57:24

conditioning coach he frowns upon it and he just thinks it's just those

1:57:27

movements are not designed

1:57:29

for endurance those movements are designed for power he thinks ultimately it's

1:57:34

detrimental for your body

1:57:35

and that if you want to have a long career in fitness and constantly be able to

1:57:39

work out like

1:57:40

deep into your 50s and 60s he just thinks it's very detrimental for your body

1:57:44

hmm again i'm not the

1:57:46

guy to tell right that's true or not true and i'm sure a lot of these i need to

1:57:50

get one of those top

1:57:51

level crossfit guys i know i've gone back and forth with rich froning is that

1:57:54

how you say yeah yeah

1:57:55

online but i never got him on oh yeah reach out to him again that i'm sure jason

1:58:00

would die to be on

1:58:02

here but um he is exceptionally fit and you know the long term i i don't know

1:58:09

because he's still a pretty

1:58:11

young guy but uh i i have a a real bad habit of um looking at the people that

1:58:23

uh say those things

1:58:26

about uh you know athletes like that i i always look at them and that's a bad

1:58:33

habit i can't help it all

1:58:36

the people that give all the advice the weightlifting advice online i always go

1:58:40

and look at their page and

1:58:42

see how the they look and it's all the overwhelming majority of uh instagram

1:58:50

coaches are fat fucks

1:58:52

yep it is how the can you give advice and look like that exactly right how can

1:59:05

you i tell people all

1:59:06

the time how can i i can't tell you or anybody how to to get through anything

1:59:12

if i never been through

1:59:14

anything myself i can't tell you how to overcome an obstacle if i never overcame

1:59:21

any thing right

1:59:23

and i can't tell you how to be in shape if i look like a fat fuck i just can't

1:59:28

do it and i have a bad

1:59:30

habit of looking at that person and and you know examining them first if you're

1:59:36

going to give me

1:59:37

this kind of advice then i have to you know i gotta look at your page joe i

1:59:42

gotta see them pictures

1:59:43

and shit you've been posting man and now if i want to know that's why i'm

1:59:47

asking joe rogan to show me

1:59:48

how to kick because i seen this mother kick and he kicks like a mule man i want

1:59:56

to learn how to kick from

1:59:57

that guy i want to see somebody kicking through walls and shit if you have not

2:00:04

seen joe rogan kick

2:00:05

look it up that is one kicking sob joe rogan kick his ass off yeah i think you

2:00:14

you got a good point

2:00:15

about uh the people that criticize like some people criticize people that work

2:00:19

too hard because they

2:00:20

don't want to work that hard like you don't need to work that hard yeah yeah i

2:00:23

don't trust trainers

2:00:24

that look like oh and it's like gang of them some of them are pretty popular

2:00:30

yeah and i see them i'm

2:00:32

like what kind of body is that how do you get a client yeah they gotta be great

2:00:37

talkers yeah well

2:00:39

they must have good degrees in physiology and this and that they must man yeah

2:00:45

look at them they look

2:00:46

doughy they're like what their chin looks like they know they look too skinny i

2:00:52

came when i first got

2:00:54

on youtube i'm talking about them guys i couldn't get a job as a personal

2:00:58

trainer i had all these

2:00:59

world championship certificates and they told me you're not certified by this

2:01:04

not certified by that

2:01:05

we can't use you and i'm like you're a personal trainer this guy looked like he

2:01:14

had never seen the

2:01:16

insider never even drove by a gym and he's a you're the head personal trainer

2:01:22

here i'm like oh i wonder

2:01:23

if someone could be a good trainer without ever really working out hard

2:01:26

themselves isn't that sort of

2:01:28

similar to someone saying that someone shouldn't be the commander-in-chief

2:01:32

without having it's very

2:01:33

similar yeah it's very simple if i'm gonna work out i want to work out with

2:01:37

someone who's built

2:01:38

like you i want to work out with someone who's built like oh this has lifted

2:01:42

some weights

2:01:42

they understand yeah they know what it takes to get big they know what it takes

2:01:47

to get strong

2:01:48

it's it's like um not just in theory yeah it's like would you hire a boxing

2:01:54

coach

2:01:55

they've never been a boxer who's never been in the ring it's never

2:01:59

doesn't seem wise no i couldn't do it i couldn't i think some people the

2:02:05

interesting thing is some

2:02:06

trainers are just really good martial artists and they never have competed i

2:02:11

don't understand how that

2:02:12

works though it doesn't make sense to me and then they would say that you know

2:02:17

they're they're

2:02:18

skills in teaching things it's not in fighting itself but i think some of the

2:02:22

best best fighters

2:02:24

are the best coaches or there have been fighters yeah some of the best yeah i

2:02:29

totally agree because

2:02:30

they they know what the fighter's going through and that that's part of it's

2:02:35

not just the the skill

2:02:38

you know the techniques that uh the kicks the punch it's not just that they

2:02:43

know everything because

2:02:44

they've been there they know what you know they know everything from the ring

2:02:48

walk to what what it's

2:02:50

like when it gets hard right when you're down on the cards yes they know that

2:02:54

they've experienced

2:02:56

that yeah you know and a guy that never been through that you'll be lost in

2:03:01

that situation you don't

2:03:02

know what the to tell you yeah yeah i mean i think that's what most things in

2:03:07

life right yeah someone's

2:03:09

gonna give you advice on something they better have some actual real world

2:03:12

experience yeah i think so

2:03:14

i think it's a necessity but what the do i know you know a lot man i'm just

2:03:19

this kid from compton

2:03:20

well i ain't a kid but i'm just this old guy from compton yeah but a lot of

2:03:25

good stuff comes out of

2:03:26

compton man dr j came from compton a lot of good stuff comes out of pressure

2:03:31

yeah for sure compton's

2:03:32

pressure yep that is definitely pressure bad things come out of it as well oh

2:03:37

yeah you know i mean it's

2:03:38

not ideal yeah but damn if you can make it through oh man that's a crazy thing

2:03:43

like you don't want

2:03:45

your children to suffer but the people who do suffer god damn they come through

2:03:50

with some incredible

2:03:52

character it's a conundrum wow it is yes it's such a i think that you know

2:03:59

people tell me joe people

2:04:02

tell i get letters and and uh dms and stuff from people from all over the

2:04:07

planet and and so many different

2:04:11

races and that's russian uh ethiopian um people from sri lanka everywhere hey ct

2:04:19

it was something about

2:04:22

your story if it was your childhood um your health problems uh how you went

2:04:29

through that and overcame

2:04:32

gave me inspiration to go through my problems that is the best feeling in the

2:04:40

world joe and when i hear

2:04:43

that i'm like everything i had to go through or everything i went through i i

2:04:48

didn't volunteer to

2:04:50

die i mean or or it wasn't my choice if i had a choice i'd have been perfectly

2:04:55

healthy but but going

2:04:57

through it if it could help that guy in sri lanka that guy in russia the guy in

2:05:03

prague the guy and i

2:05:05

if it could help them then it was so worth it it ain't even funny i'd do it all

2:05:12

over again tomorrow

2:05:13

just because this guy says that it helped me get through something inspiration

2:05:23

inspiration is very

2:05:25

very very very valuable very valuable and really hard to i mean it's hard to

2:05:30

quantify if you had

2:05:31

to explain inspiration to someone who's never experienced it but like someone

2:05:35

else doing something

2:05:36

good makes you feel like you can do something good it seems like it shouldn't

2:05:40

it shouldn't have anything

2:05:41

to do with you but it does it does it yeah i'm i'm my first one of them we had

2:05:48

uh we go to do these

2:05:49

exposies exposing stuff and people come and some people wait in line two or

2:05:54

three hours

2:05:55

to shake my hand and i think that's so crazy joe i mean who the am i who am i i

2:06:06

i am nobody i'm

2:06:09

nobody i ain't done nothing well stop and think about this many of your videos

2:06:13

have like more than a

2:06:14

million views yeah so that's you're not nobody it's crazy but that's not nobody

2:06:21

like everybody's

2:06:22

somebody right i mean that's an old saying yeah the reality is you have reached

2:06:27

out with your videos

2:06:29

and touched and if you saw a million people in front of you you'd freak the out

2:06:34

right well that's

2:06:35

more than that you've touched many more than that millions and millions of

2:06:39

people it is absolutely crazy

2:06:41

to me i just can't but i don't i because the first first video that i get on on

2:06:46

youtube i go hey look

2:06:47

i don't give a if you listen to me or not who would listen to somebody who says

2:06:52

that

2:06:52

me i listen to you like turn me the off i don't give a you know and people and

2:06:58

and i'm kidding a

2:06:59

million people looking at that and i'm like man it's just it's just so crazy so

2:07:05

because i and like i

2:07:05

said i consider myself the least of the least the lowest of the lowest the

2:07:10

bottom of the barrel

2:07:11

and i'm just you know people people say lct you're you're uh the greatest you're

2:07:16

a king you're

2:07:18

a guy no i'm not i ain't none of that stuff i'm nothing man i'm absolutely

2:07:24

nothing well that's not

2:07:25

true either what you are is an exceptional person the thing about exceptional

2:07:29

people is they're self-critical

2:07:31

and the one of the reasons why you got to be so good at what you chose to be

2:07:35

obsessed by

2:07:36

is that you you worked hard to constantly improve so when you're constantly

2:07:41

working hard to improve

2:07:43

you're not thinking i'm the best i'm the best you're like god damn i gotta go

2:07:47

to work

2:07:47

i gotta get this in i gotta get this done and so when people tell you you're

2:07:51

great you're like what are

2:07:52

you talking i'm working i'm over here working i'm trying to get better great

2:07:56

man that's inspiring to

2:07:58

people though the the thing about what inspiration does to people it's almost

2:08:03

like a type of intangible

2:08:05

fuel oh man it's i can change lives joe people come to me and in the line they

2:08:13

kind of tell me

2:08:14

yeah a grown man he starts crying rope gets down on his knees you might want to

2:08:21

stay away from that guy

2:08:22

this guy's crying he'd get down on his knees and tell me oh ct you changed my

2:08:29

life you kept me from

2:08:31

committing suicide i've heard that story that i that because of me they didn't

2:08:39

take their own life

2:08:41

at least a hundred times yeah joe rogan what i have gone through to save if

2:08:50

these people are

2:08:51

are to saying that i saved their life because i didn't give up because i didn't

2:08:59

give in because i

2:09:02

kept the faith and kept going i was going to do that anyway joe that's just

2:09:07

right but it changed their

2:09:09

life for them to tell me something like that i'm like i'll i'd do this all over

2:09:13

again tomorrow well

2:09:15

you know it's like what we're saying earlier about people that don't have

2:09:19

anything that they're

2:09:20

inspired by and you i was saying i maybe i wish i would i saw them when they

2:09:25

were young like maybe if

2:09:27

you got a hold of them when they were young you could teach them the value of

2:09:30

expressing themselves

2:09:32

and competing or doing something where you get like positive feedback from your

2:09:36

effort and i think that

2:09:38

some people they just they don't they don't ever get that and so when someone

2:09:45

gets that from someone

2:09:47

like you when they they they get that that fuel that intangible fuel that you

2:09:52

get when you get inspired

2:09:53

by somebody they it's so emotional because it's it really is like you gave them

2:09:58

a gift and that gift

2:10:00

we model ourselves after other successful people we do it all the time either

2:10:04

hopefully if everything

2:10:05

goes great you model yourself after your parents or you model yourself after

2:10:08

your uncle your brothers

2:10:09

and sisters or whoever it is that's around you that seems to be exceptional and

2:10:13

that that fuels people

2:10:14

it helps people it means a lot to people sometimes people don't have that so

2:10:18

they got to look inward

2:10:19

they got a you know it's like that old whitney houston song um you know

2:10:23

everybody searching for a hero oh

2:10:26

yeah yeah yeah it was like on the muhammad ali uh life story that was a that

2:10:32

was that was the song

2:10:34

that they said the original version of that song was on a it was like a docudrama

2:10:39

on muhammad ali's life

2:10:42

but that sometimes you don't find someone for a long time and then when you do

2:10:49

it changes your whole

2:10:51

life you find someone maybe it's just a youtube video and it's you saying it's

2:10:56

still your motherfucking

2:10:57

set and it's you just pushing people and telling people to go get after it and

2:11:02

people see that and

2:11:04

all of a sudden it's like they get goosebumps their heart starts racing it's

2:11:07

like you gave them a drug like

2:11:09

you gave them fuel and then then they want to change their life then they want

2:11:13

to watch you tomorrow

2:11:14

then they want to watch you when they're at lunch break they're gonna watch you

2:11:16

they're taking a

2:11:16

shit you know they're watching you on their phone but that's that's fuel and

2:11:20

you literally can change

2:11:21

a person's life through that because we need each other i mean this is it's one

2:11:26

more piece of evidence

2:11:28

that we need each other and that we have this sort of a very strange loose

2:11:33

fitted community of all human

2:11:35

beings together when someone like you does something that's exceptional and

2:11:39

says something that's

2:11:40

exceptional and has these inspirational words it can change a person's whole

2:11:45

life change their whole

2:11:47

path change who they are i've gotten so many messages from people that say i

2:11:51

lost 130 pounds you know

2:11:53

i did this i got off sugar i'm i'm i'm i'm fucking running every day i hit the

2:11:57

gym five days a week

2:11:58

now i'm i'm i'm a different person i'm drinking water i'm exercising i take

2:12:03

vitamins i'm eating

2:12:04

healthy i got more juice i got more energy my whole life is different now i'm

2:12:09

positive yeah it happens

2:12:11

all the time but how does that make you feel obligated oh no no you know no i

2:12:19

know exactly what you mean

2:12:20

you feel like you have to you can't fail yeah you can't feel you can't because

2:12:25

now you got all these

2:12:26

people yeah looking up to you yeah i don't want that i definitely don't want

2:12:31

anybody looking up to me

2:12:33

but i i do like people being inspired and if people get inspired by me i'm

2:12:37

happy but uh you know they do

2:12:40

joe they're looking up to you and you can't help it man you can't help it i

2:12:45

think i don't want it i

2:12:46

mean i don't i don't i always say it all the time yeah i'm nobody i'm nobody

2:12:50

don't look at me man don't

2:12:52

look at me i talk about a higher power look at the higher power man don't look

2:12:55

at me we need

2:12:56

each other yeah we all need each other we really do there's something beautiful

2:13:00

about that though

2:13:01

you know like you you can't just go it alone you really do need each other and

2:13:06

like if you accomplish

2:13:07

everything you ever want to accomplish but nobody's there for with you nobody

2:13:11

cares nobody likes you

2:13:12

that don't mean yeah it's useless absolutely like love is the most important

2:13:18

thing and that sounds so

2:13:19

cliche but without love it's all useless it's all useless you know there's no

2:13:24

personal satisfaction

2:13:25

and accomplishments if nobody loves you you're not going to enjoy it yeah at

2:13:29

least your family yeah

2:13:31

yeah everybody and the the more you can spread positive energy the more people

2:13:36

will love you the

2:13:37

more you'll have that community of love you know and that's that's it's just

2:13:42

like i told you joe i

2:13:43

i never expected even you know live past 40. i i i people tell you i always

2:13:49

think about i'm yeah i'm the

2:13:51

the little kid that used to um hide in the closet when i i would hear my dad's

2:13:59

keys

2:14:00

rattling the door or portly's car pull up in the door i would hide in the

2:14:04

closet or try to hide me i

2:14:06

just i don't want i didn't want him to see me i don't want to just i'm that kid

2:14:11

dude i'm so and my

2:14:14

dad would always tell me that you know you're never gonna be nothing you're

2:14:17

never gonna do this you're

2:14:18

never gonna and so i'm that kid so that still fucks with you oh it to come from

2:14:23

no it it it i'm

2:14:25

reminded of it i i think about that when people tell me oh you're great cg or

2:14:30

you're no man i'm i come

2:14:33

from i'm you man i i i wash dishes i cut grass i i pump gas i'm those people

2:14:42

yeah you know i i bust

2:14:45

tables as a kid i watched it i did all those things too yeah i'm i'm i'm the

2:14:51

people that are saying

2:14:51

that i'm great i'm like oh man i'm you yeah yeah yeah i'm you yeah i'm not i'm

2:14:56

not anything other

2:14:58

than you that's so important for people to hear though yeah that they are you

2:15:02

but that they can be

2:15:03

someone like you too if they put in the kind of time and effort that you put in

2:15:06

that's the real

2:15:07

message the real message is we all started from no i mean we all had jobs we

2:15:11

all felt like losers

2:15:13

but through time and effort you build a stronger human you build a stronger

2:15:19

body you build a stronger

2:15:21

mind you build accomplishments and will and momentum and then you look back and

2:15:26

you go hey

2:15:27

man i'm not washing tables anymore you know i'm not uh i'm not washing dishes i'm

2:15:31

not cutting lawns

2:15:32

i'm not digging ditches yeah you know i'm a different person now but i used to

2:15:36

be

2:15:36

and these desire not to be there but not to stay in it that's that's what uh

2:15:42

that's the hardest

2:15:43

part right is to get out of that rut when you ain't got and there's nothing

2:15:46

going on

2:15:47

to have faith then is so difficult to have faith when you're successful it's

2:15:51

like yeah yeah listen

2:15:52

bitch you've been successful for a while of course you got faith yeah just keep

2:15:55

doing what you're

2:15:55

doing it's all yeah it's like absolutely right it's like you already got up the

2:15:59

hill now you're just

2:16:00

coasting yeah you know you're just rolling down the hill everything's great

2:16:04

that's the easy it's all

2:16:05

smooth sailing yep the hard part is getting up that hill especially if you got

2:16:10

a dad you're hiding from

2:16:11

especially if you feel like you're a loser you never really had anything in

2:16:14

your life that you

2:16:15

could look back on and say hey i was really good at that you know and there's a

2:16:19

lot of people out

2:16:19

there listening to this there's so many people that are in that that starting

2:16:23

point like the people

2:16:25

that come up to you and say what do i i don't know what to do what should i do

2:16:28

how do i do it yeah how

2:16:29

do i get going well you're gonna have to figure it out one foot in front of the

2:16:32

other you're gonna have

2:16:34

to you have to find a thing and keep working at it and get better at it that's

2:16:38

one of the things that i like so much

2:16:39

about martial arts that let anybody in yeah anybody in and then from that from

2:16:44

learning how to do that

2:16:46

you get better and then you realize damn i can get better at anything yeah

2:16:50

because this it's so

2:16:51

the first time i ever did jujitsu i remember just being manhandled so bad going

2:16:55

man i'll never be good

2:16:56

at this this is terrible i'm awful at this and this is already been a black

2:17:00

belt in taekwondo and

2:17:02

already kickboxed or did a bunch of and i was like i can't believe i'm starting

2:17:05

from scratch again yeah but

2:17:07

that at least i knew then that i already had done that before i already started

2:17:11

from scratch

2:17:12

so like i had some experience started from scratch like all i have to do is

2:17:16

just put in the time and

2:17:17

the effort here the desire to get better damn that's for everybody just find a

2:17:22

thing everything and if

2:17:23

you find a thing well like particularly martial arts because you get belts and

2:17:27

ranks and then you can see

2:17:29

how you're doing with opponents especially jujitsu i like that one the boss

2:17:32

because you're not getting hit

2:17:34

you know i think there's so many people that in the especially if you go to a

2:17:37

bad gym in the early

2:17:38

days people are going to tune you up yeah they're going to beat you up yeah

2:17:42

yeah you could get some

2:17:44

little damage yeah that would discourage a lot of people yeah but if you could

2:17:47

just find a thing and

2:17:48

work hard at that thing you'll realize through that thing that you can get good

2:17:53

at anything yeah with

2:17:54

time and effort don't have and it don't have i mean you pick the thing yeah

2:17:59

pick the thing whatever the

2:18:00

thing calls to you whatever calls to you yep the desire to change to to not uh

2:18:07

to change those

2:18:08

circumstances whatever they might be yeah as long as you have you have to have

2:18:13

that desire to will

2:18:14

to change those circumstances yeah that's that's your start right there man you

2:18:19

know how bleak it may

2:18:20

seem but if you have the will to desire to change it there's your starting

2:18:25

point since you started

2:18:26

doing these videos on youtube to now how much of a difference is it made in the

2:18:30

the types of people

2:18:33

that come to your gym and then the numbers of people that come in um that i i

2:18:40

have joe rogan's phone

2:18:42

number i have terry cruz's phone number i have dr dre's phone number yeah i saw

2:18:49

you you took a lot of

2:18:50

pictures with dr dre man you've been hanging out with him a lot dr dre i know

2:18:56

you hey you guys look

2:18:58

at the news and you might see hey it don't say nothing bad about dr in front of

2:19:02

me incredible

2:19:05

individual incredible dr dre i i call him dre now dre is an incredible

2:19:13

individual his heart is huge

2:19:16

huge joe i can't tell you how he because he told me not to but there he is with

2:19:22

you yes that's he's

2:19:24

an incredible individual he was jacked at one point in time right yeah he got

2:19:29

huge yes he did he still

2:19:31

looks great he told me he's in very good shape right now he's uh a lot of

2:19:35

cardio eats really well

2:19:37

matter of fact uh he he's got this trail he wants me to he challenged me to try

2:19:42

hiking up a hill and i'm

2:19:44

not ready for it joe but dr dre if you're listening i'm gonna make it up that

2:19:49

trail

2:19:51

i might have to roll down but i'm gonna make it up he's in great shape but he's

2:19:56

a great human being

2:19:58

he's a a very good human being that's awesome to hear i love hearing yeah just

2:20:04

down to earth so he

2:20:05

shifted his training from like just he got really big at one point in time his

2:20:10

goal yeah i saw him at the

2:20:11

comedy store one night and he was like the rock yeah he was huge huge exactly

2:20:15

you know he's he's more uh you

2:20:17

know health oriented and in cardio and he wants to uh he said his goal is to

2:20:22

get down to 200 pounds

2:20:24

uh of just lean low body fat percentage muscle what does he weigh now uh 210 i

2:20:32

think he said

2:20:33

and with me and him saying around the same weight and my goal is also to get

2:20:37

down to 200 pounds i want

2:20:38

to be 200 pounds which i haven't been in a long time but i want to be 200

2:20:42

pounds well there's pictures of

2:20:43

you when you were powerlifting yeah are you yeah 325. you were 325. oh my god

2:20:50

wow yeah i ain't the tallest

2:20:52

motherfucker in the world so yeah you were as wide as a building though i was

2:20:57

god damn 325 is so big

2:20:59

so you were 115 pounds heavier than you are now yeah so so you see why so stack

2:21:08

up i feel like i'm a

2:21:08

a skeleton now 15 pound steaks yeah yeah i feel like a skeleton now compared to

2:21:14

this man but just stop

2:21:15

and think of that 115 one pound steaks just slap slap slap slap slap slap slap

2:21:21

slap slap slap all that

2:21:22

meat yeah just a lot of meat everywhere yeah shoulders and i didn't care i

2:21:29

would have pay i'd almost pass out

2:21:32

tie my shoes get out of breath walk into the front door i'm like oh it's the

2:21:38

over witness at the door

2:21:40

again oh you were saying you had a terrible diet back then oh it was horrible

2:21:46

there you are look at you

2:21:48

yeah yeah jesus christ like how big you were holy that ain't all fat man that's

2:21:55

you you look gigantic

2:21:57

yeah i was a fat man and i'm trying to get like the other guy i don't know the

2:22:01

lean lean cp on the other

2:22:03

side how how much did you weigh on the other side on the other side i was

2:22:07

probably about 220 but i want to

2:22:09

get down to 200 pounds that's the goal by 60s 200 pounds jesus christ look at

2:22:15

the size of your arm

2:22:16

that's so crazy look at the size of that arm that is so preposterous and the

2:22:23

the tricep line the line

2:22:25

between the tricep and the bicep that is that's ridiculous to me man i think

2:22:30

somebody added on you

2:22:32

you think so yeah that's a little add-on i don't think so stop lying i think

2:22:37

they helped me out i don't

2:22:39

think so you look pretty young there too yeah i was actually uh 50 uh 51 when i

2:22:46

just uh in that picture

2:22:47

yeah wow go back to that again that's 50 with no steroids that's ridiculous

2:22:52

yeah i just uh well i'm a

2:22:54

natural uh um had a uh professional uh a natural professional division so i won

2:23:03

the over 50 category

2:23:05

wow that's how i got my pro card as a bodybuilder but uh no it looks a little

2:23:12

that ain't me

2:23:13

that's a big difference except we were talking about people that come to your

2:23:22

gym though man i mean

2:23:22

they must flock to you now um i i flock i don't know but it's kind of cool

2:23:27

though because you you

2:23:28

have sort of you've taken on this role as a guru i mean that's one of the

2:23:34

things that a lot of people

2:23:35

have gotten from your videos and these i mean there's motivation from you know

2:23:42

a lot of people

2:23:43

can give you motivation some of that motivation seems stale and then there's

2:23:46

some people that give

2:23:47

you motivation like wow that's live that's just live your motivation is live it's

2:23:52

real

2:23:52

you could tell it's not scripted yeah it's telling you what to see from the

2:23:56

heart yeah yeah definitely

2:23:58

everything is right off the top of the head man i think um but a guru uh that's

2:24:03

another title i think

2:24:05

i'm definitely not worthy i maybe you know people say oh he's an og an old guy

2:24:12

that's that's more

2:24:13

closer to i've been around long enough well you're also like people turn

2:24:17

because of the fact that you've

2:24:19

been around you've done so much the people will turn to you and say hey you

2:24:23

this is a person with real

2:24:25

life experience you you really have done things yeah i've done some stuff when

2:24:29

you start talking about

2:24:30

pushing you start talking about pushing yourself people understand this is

2:24:33

coming from life experience

2:24:35

this is real and that's the difference that's why it's it resonates with people

2:24:39

it resonates with

2:24:40

people because it's authentic oh man that's such a high compliment i appreciate

2:24:46

that joe thanks it

2:24:47

most definitely is real there's a lot of people out there listening to this

2:24:50

that know you that are nodding

2:24:51

their head right now and appreciation and understanding they know what we're

2:24:54

saying they know that when

2:24:56

you when you you fire me the up dude those videos i get fired up now that's

2:25:03

high praise right there

2:25:04

it's not just me man there's a lot of other people so but that must have led a

2:25:08

lot of people to come to

2:25:10

your gym yeah i i get people from uh i go i guarantee that i'm going to be

2:25:15

there on wednesday nights

2:25:17

because people come all the time expecting me to be at the gym 24 hours a day

2:25:21

where's the gym it's in

2:25:23

signal hill california and uh it's iron addicts right iron addicts gym signal

2:25:27

hill california and uh there's a

2:25:30

rumor that we're going to be opening up another one here pretty soon where uh

2:25:34

we haven't decided yet

2:25:36

how about over here you know that's that's a possibility people need a hardcore

2:25:41

gym out here

2:25:42

that is a possibility uh what are you thinking we're uh an area where people

2:25:47

can afford the membership

2:25:49

that's what we're thinking man so you know because where i'm at now too i tell

2:25:55

you i could make a

2:25:56

a lot more money but i you know first responders firemen policemen uh all vets

2:26:02

paramedics they

2:26:04

train at the gym for free good for you yeah i don't charge them nothing that's

2:26:07

amazing that's the least

2:26:09

i could do i think it's the least i could do that's beautiful yeah so yeah i

2:26:12

could make more money but

2:26:14

that's something i choose to do good for you yeah but yeah we're thinking about

2:26:19

opening up another one in a

2:26:22

a more area where people got some money well when you do man let me know and i'll

2:26:26

get that bat signal

2:26:27

up in the sky oh hell yeah definitely definitely joe rogan and i've seen people

2:26:33

i've seen one podcast

2:26:34

where you had one of my t-shirts on yeah man thank you joe i really appreciate

2:26:40

that oh my pleasure brother

2:26:41

i was so excited when i see that somebody somebody seen it first one of my kids

2:26:45

seen it first because

2:26:46

they're all the time on social media hey dad dad look at you look at you and i'm

2:26:51

like oh that's cool

2:26:53

well i was happy for you to see that your posters hanging up yeah unbelievable

2:26:58

joe rogan's got my

2:26:59

poster hanging up in the screen that's cool man that is so cool so you're there

2:27:04

every wednesday every

2:27:05

wednesday night and that's when the gym is pretty packed on wednesday nights we

2:27:10

do a live workout

2:27:11

and people you take people through this workout oh yeah if they if they come on

2:27:14

wednesday nights i've

2:27:15

trained people you know i don't i it it's on wednesday nights absolutely free

2:27:20

um i'll see that's

2:27:22

another one i have people come over on wednesday nights they train for

2:27:25

absolutely free all you got to do

2:27:27

is sign the waiver so if you get up it's on you you don't try to sue me and

2:27:31

that like that but

2:27:33

if you come on wednesday night and sign the waiver it's absolutely free that's

2:27:36

amazing yeah i yell and

2:27:37

scream at them yeah let me see you call me a motherfucker people have it's it's

2:27:43

so funny they

2:27:45

want me to call them a motherfucker and i'm like i've been calling people a

2:27:47

motherfucker you know since

2:27:48

the fifth grade for for nothing now isn't that weird yeah and now they want me

2:27:52

to call my

2:27:53

motherfucker you know i'm on uh uh cameo cameo and on the cameo they can for 25

2:28:00

bucks i'll cuss them

2:28:01

out oh that's that application yeah the cameo app and uh 25 bucks i cuss them

2:28:07

out and i'm like damn

2:28:09

i used to cuss people out for nothing that's how many people do i do about 10 a

2:28:15

day really yeah

2:28:16

wow some out man wish my wish my uh you know wish me a happy a birthday cd and

2:28:22

i with some happy

2:28:23

birthday or whatever the they want right five bucks man that's very reasonable

2:28:29

yeah yeah used to be

2:28:30

more and and uh and i said now if i could make it cheaper so more people can

2:28:34

afford to do it

2:28:35

i don't mind i don't mind cussing them out yeah i would say you got a heart of

2:28:40

gold

2:28:40

but you have a new heart yeah so you got a new heart of gold but you really do

2:28:44

man the way you

2:28:45

look at things is it's very cool it's very cool the way you let first

2:28:48

responders and firefighters

2:28:50

and veterans work out for free and the wednesday night working out for free and

2:28:54

all that

2:28:55

your heart is in the right place your mind is in the right place i try i try to

2:29:00

it is man it is

2:29:02

so like the environment around the gym how much did it change once you started

2:29:07

putting up those videos

2:29:09

oh uh uh it's it's the type of gym my gym is the type of gym that um if you don't

2:29:18

uh you know i gotta

2:29:20

say this we got number two behind gold's gym as a favorite hardcore gym in america

2:29:26

iron addiction

2:29:27

really behind gold's gym man holy shit yeah you can't beat gold's gym because

2:29:31

you might be number

2:29:32

one we're always going to vote for gold's gym number one because it's just but

2:29:37

so iconic second

2:29:38

behind that's incredible that's an honor man that's what i'm saying i mean i

2:29:41

think you won that was a

2:29:42

super i feel like you got first place because you can't really defeat gold's

2:29:46

gym and people coming

2:29:48

you know from i'm from lithuania ct and we came we were in town on vacation one

2:29:54

place we wanted to go

2:29:56

was your gym wow i love that kind of stuff that's amazing it is so gratifying

2:30:02

you know because it might

2:30:04

but it's a it's not uh planet fitness no it's a hardcore i love the way it

2:30:10

looks yeah it looks like

2:30:11

it's just like a tornado rant yeah but if you don't love that yeah i love it i

2:30:17

love it the weights look

2:30:18

like they've everybody's been lifting yeah yeah that's what i like shiny pretty

2:30:22

weights get the

2:30:23

out of here with that my but see that's your meant if you if you have that kind

2:30:29

of mentality then you'll

2:30:31

love it yeah but if you know some people going like oh no i don't know that's

2:30:36

not my cup of tea then

2:30:37

you won't yeah but thank goodness there's enough people like us and my daughter's

2:30:42

like could you

2:30:43

i think he could you just put recovered this one bench right they got a lot of

2:30:47

like the stuffing's

2:30:49

coming out and i look at it and i'm going this is perfect yeah and my daughter's

2:30:55

like no yeah it's

2:30:56

got like a patina yeah yeah i like it too man i like seeing that's chipped up a

2:31:01

little bit

2:31:01

banged up that's me especially if you you're gonna go put yourself through hell

2:31:06

yeah you like cars

2:31:07

too yeah love cars i noticed yeah you love cars i love cars you got a corvette

2:31:13

too don't you yeah

2:31:14

65. i know man see it's badass too but you didn't know that i'm a car nut too i

2:31:20

do know

2:31:21

you're a car not we talked about it we did yeah yeah we get oh what do you have

2:31:26

what do you have oh

2:31:28

i have uh four corvettes four i know you're a corvette man damn i have a 65 uh

2:31:38

a 72 a 74 and a 71. i got a lot

2:31:42

of c3s oh those are the c3s is that yeah that's yours wow damn you are good on

2:31:47

that thing man you

2:31:49

speak about yeah that's yours too yeah that's mine too oh that one's nice black

2:31:53

with the side pipes

2:31:55

that's 427 tri-car right there that's a beautiful one what year is that that's

2:32:00

72. so that's all

2:32:01

generation three right yeah yeah my uh my neighbors hate me that is loud man i

2:32:07

bet that year

2:32:08

is amazing those those are gorgeous cars man no nothing compared to what you

2:32:13

got but you know

2:32:14

i like them man oh i love them i love corvettes i like the new ones too i like

2:32:18

all of them yeah well

2:32:20

you got something else besides the corvette too i heard about but i haven't

2:32:23

seen i've seen the corvette

2:32:25

but what else you got um i have a 69 nova that they're they're building right

2:32:29

now i did it's not

2:32:30

done i think i did yeah and and you you everything's like super new under it's

2:32:37

yeah yeah yeah yeah i don't

2:32:39

like old shit like drum brakes and fucked up suspensions we can't go around

2:32:45

corners yeah i'm

2:32:46

not interested in dying not like that oh man yeah i like what they call resto

2:32:52

mods yeah that's that's

2:32:53

it is that what you do yours oh no no i well um the yellow one i i got from uh

2:32:59

the guy was a plastic

2:33:00

surgeon and that was like his bottom of the line car but he did everything to

2:33:06

it it's got the suspension

2:33:07

and everything and it makes a big difference yeah yeah you know i could try

2:33:11

that thing anywhere

2:33:12

but the uh the black one 427 tri-carb it's old school old school all the way

2:33:18

even the brakes uh

2:33:19

no no it's got disc brakes okay yeah that's where you got to draw the line yeah

2:33:23

yeah gotta have gotta be

2:33:24

able to stop gotta be able to stop but that fucker is and actually i like i

2:33:28

like shit like that

2:33:29

i wouldn't mind the rest of mine but i i like the i like old shit man i just i

2:33:36

like old houses

2:33:38

i like old cars i collect old bikes character yeah just old shit i just yeah i

2:33:44

do too yeah i think

2:33:46

there's character to old things yep it's like either you like it or you don't

2:33:50

like some people do

2:33:51

like everything new and modern and shiny like when i started making money i

2:33:55

started buying older cars

2:33:56

cars i like older just they just have a different feel to them totally totally

2:34:02

totally totally and i

2:34:04

have a uh yeah yeah that's my latest truck man when did you get this uh i got

2:34:09

that uh probably six

2:34:11

months ago what year is it look at the window see i like that motherfucker yeah

2:34:16

look at all the patina

2:34:17

on that it's a crew cab it's a 61 crew cab wow you can't find those crew and it

2:34:23

came from the factory

2:34:24

a crew cab man wow that truck looks like me bashed in windows and shits cars

2:34:31

and oh that's beautiful

2:34:33

i love it i love you drive that around that no you know what i'm waiting to i

2:34:39

am going to get the body

2:34:40

work done on that because it's got some holes in it oh it's pretty beat up yeah

2:34:44

i gotta get the body

2:34:46

work done but it's funny though there's something to that when you look at

2:34:49

those old cars you

2:34:50

realize that they don't make anything like this anymore no man the the style uh

2:34:56

they really put a

2:34:57

lot into style yeah cars in 50s and 60s they do now but it just doesn't seem

2:35:02

the same even if they

2:35:04

look good like a new corvette like a 2019 corvette it's a beautiful car but you

2:35:08

look at that old truck

2:35:10

it does not have what that truck has it's like you put it'll put a smile on

2:35:13

your face just driving

2:35:15

it man one of my biggest joys is is sitting behind the wheel of that one of

2:35:20

those old cars man it just

2:35:22

makes me i feel like a young when i'm sitting there like a kid yeah yeah like

2:35:27

it's a toy oh

2:35:29

like a ride like you're driving around in a ride it is yeah it's so much joy

2:35:33

you pull up to a stop like

2:35:34

some you look over the car next to the guy's giving you a thumbs up man i'd be

2:35:40

cheesing from

2:35:41

ear to ear when that happens and you don't even have to drive those fast no

2:35:45

yeah like even that corvette

2:35:46

you don't have to every once in a while it's fun you know break them loose it's

2:35:52

a little fun to

2:35:53

break them loose yeah but you know you don't have to drive well for a power lifter

2:35:57

though it's almost

2:35:58

like mandatory for you to have some sort of a muscle car yeah i guess so it

2:36:03

seems like it goes with the

2:36:05

territory doesn't like a big block engine there's you oh somebody got a video

2:36:08

you're driving by yeah

2:36:10

that's hilarious all right do you get recognized a lot you know more than i you

2:36:15

know i'm i'm still

2:36:17

shocked but you know i go to the store hey i was walking down the street the

2:36:23

other day and it got

2:36:24

hey ct you know yelling screaming from the car and i'm like man how do you even

2:36:29

know who the

2:36:29

i am because i figure if you're not a weightlifter uh and you don't look at

2:36:34

youtube then

2:36:35

you know that's a lot of people how would anybody yeah you know wouldn't even

2:36:40

know who the i was you

2:36:41

know and so i'm i'm still shocked by it but i could recognize more than i you

2:36:46

know more than i thought i

2:36:47

would put that way this ct fletcher 2.0 that you're this life that you're

2:36:51

living right now yes

2:36:53

what what is what is different in like what you're trying to accomplish oh man

2:36:59

the the first one you

2:37:01

know was uh me me me me me and this 2.0 guy is so much more concerned about

2:37:08

other people and doing

2:37:11

something to help somebody else is so much more important than you know like my

2:37:17

my initial videos

2:37:20

you see i was like you may not know me now but you will you know i'm i'm gonna

2:37:24

do this and what this

2:37:25

guy fuck that guy i'm i'm the king i'm the beast i'm the baddest one i'm the

2:37:29

baddest man on the planet

2:37:31

and you know as i i i i i and now i i consider myself this new guy is so

2:37:38

insignificant that it's not

2:37:41

even funny man just uh ct flush does it feel weird to have completely shifted

2:37:46

your consciousness like

2:37:48

that it it does a little weird at times it feels a little weird like you're not

2:37:55

even you uh but so

2:37:58

much it's me and i know it's me but i feel so much better so much better man

2:38:06

when i when the focus on me

2:38:09

you know um this this new version this news it's i feel so much better than i'm

2:38:17

trying to

2:38:18

bring people together i'm trying like i have a of my mission my purpose is so

2:38:24

much greater i'm trying

2:38:26

to do some good the og ree fletcher that's my mom that's the lady who kept me

2:38:31

from being completely

2:38:32

retarded as a kid the og ree fletcher heart foundation you know i'm chartered a

2:38:38

uh non-profit

2:38:40

organization in the name of my mom and it's to people because a transplant is a

2:38:46

very i mean a lot

2:38:48

of people if it wasn't for the army if it weren't for me being a veteran there's

2:38:51

no way i could afford a

2:38:52

transplant it's a million dollar procedure yeah i didn't have a million dollars

2:38:58

sure it's so but

2:39:00

there's other even if you have insurance there's other things that comes up you

2:39:04

know say that the

2:39:05

head of the family has to have a transplant a heart transplant he's out uh okay

2:39:10

his medical bills are

2:39:11

taken care of but what about how's his wife going to pay the the mortgage how

2:39:15

she's going to buy gas

2:39:16

how she's going to feed the kids i i started the og ree flutter heart

2:39:20

foundation to help people uh with

2:39:24

that to help the mom who's still at home who still has to pay the bills and

2:39:28

stuff because insurance

2:39:29

doesn't cover everything to help the people that don't you know and i haven't i

2:39:33

haven't had even had

2:39:34

my first event or anything like that i just paid the lawyer for uh to get the

2:39:39

name and stuff it's a kid

2:39:41

but it's i won't i have to start you got to start somewhere and that started i

2:39:45

had the vision in my

2:39:46

head i'm gonna do something for my mom so her memory you know will go on you

2:39:49

know even after i'm dead and

2:39:51

gone those reflect your heart foundation will still be around i will do

2:39:55

something to honor her because

2:39:56

that woman you know everything i am is because of her so i want to do something

2:40:01

to honor her i just got

2:40:03

all these things i want to do to uh help my veterans and ptsd uh like i got so

2:40:09

many goals and stuff to

2:40:10

live for joe man i don't know what to do and i don't know how much time i got

2:40:14

to do it i can you

2:40:15
