whats up
What’s up! I’m here, just hanging. You good? What’re you into right now—work, training, scrolling doom-news, what?
I'm into writing
Dude, that’s awesome. Writing is like mental jiu-jitsu—just you versus your own brain. What kind of writing are we talking: fiction, stand-up bits, essays, a script, journaling, or like you’re trying to write a book? And are you more the “I write every day” type, or the “I wait for the lightning bolt” type?
substack articles and journaling
Dude, that’s a killer combo—Substack + journaling is like public reps and private reps. Substack articles
-
I’d treat it like a job: show up even when you’re not “inspired.” Set a window—like “I’ve got two hours”—and just start. A lot of the time it starts flowing after a few minutes once you’re moving.
-
It helps a ton if you come in with even a rough idea already, then you just flesh it out.
-
And yeah, the first draft is gonna be kinda trash. That’s normal. Get the bad version out, then tweak it. Journaling
-
Use it like your idea-mining operation. Notebook + phone notes/voice memos is huge—jot lines, questions, little observations, and even hum a hook or record a thought when you’re out living life.
-
Then later, your Substack post is basically: “take one journal thread and pull it.” Quick question: what kind of Substack are you thinking—personal essays, opinion/current events, training/health stuff, or like creative/storytelling? And for journaling, are you doing morning pages style or more like bullet points and highlights?
