whats tartaria
Tartaria is basically this internet “lost civilization” idea—people say there was some super advanced empire, kind of worldwide, with crazy sophisticated architecture and tech, and that it got wiped from history or covered up. You’ll see it tied to “old world” buildings from the 1800s, like ornate courthouses and train stations, and people go, “No way they built this then—this is Tartarian.” In reality, “Tartary/Tartaria” was mostly an old catch-all label Europeans used on maps for big parts of Central and Northern Asia, not some hidden global super-civilization. But online it’s turned into this whole erased-history rabbit hole.
who of your guests talkeb about it
A few times it’s come up, but the one I can actually point to from what you’re referencing here is Brian Dunning—the Skeptoid guy—because I’m talking about him doing an episode on the Tartaria story and how that whole thing popped up around 2016–2017 and stayed kinda obscure. If you mean “who came on and pushed Tartaria as real,” I’m not 100% sure off the top of my head from this info—this bit is more me discussing the internet/Twitter/Reddit side of it than naming a bunch of JRE guests who are Tartaria people.
