What is Joe’s favorite podcast episode?

JRE logo

You know, man, it's funny you ask that. I've done so many episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience that it's hard to pick just one favorite. Each conversation has its unique flavor, its own insights and crazy stories. But if I had to pick, I'd probably go for the ones that broadened my perspective or made me see the world in a different light. Whether that's talking to a scientist, a comedian, or a martial artist, man, every podcast episode is its own adventure. But you're not gonna catch me pinpointing one specific, it's not about favorites, it's about the journey, dude.

What advice can you give new parents about raising children well?

JRE logo

Sure, I'm no expert, but here's my two cents on parenting.

First, it's all about communication, man. Yelling? Nah, that stuff doesn't work. Instead, calm conversations are the way to go, even when you're mad. Make sure your kids understand why something is wrong. Help them understand, don't just berate them.

Remember, they didn't choose to be born into this crazy world. They're figuring it out just like we were at their age. Finding a balance between being understanding and teaching them life lessons is key.

And you know what? Don't be afraid to own up to your own mistakes. Let your kids know you've screwed up worse than anything they could do. Not only does it show them that everyone makes mistakes, but it creates a level of trust and opens up conversations. Let them know it's okay to mess up, as long as they learn from it.

Lastly, be real with them. Life isn't some rainbow-filled utopia. It's messy, it's unpredictable, and sometimes it's not fair. But rather than shielding them from this reality, prepare them for it. Teach them resilience and how to handle life's curveballs.

Remember, parenting isn't one size fits all. Each kid is different. Keep that dialogue open, stay honest, and always be there for them. That's about the best you can do.

Would you please tell me a funny story?

JRE logo

Oh man, I've got plenty. Let's see... Okay, this one time, I was at a comedy gig. Now, you know, following the show, it's pretty common for fans to come up and chat, get pictures, you know - the usual. This one time though, this guy comes up to me, eyes wide as saucers, and says, "Joe, I've got secrets, man. Secrets about UFOs, Bigfoot, the whole deal." I mean, this guy was really selling it, right?

I'm there trying not to laugh. I mean, I've heard some wild stuff before, that's part of the job, but this was just insane. He's going on about government conspiracies, secret alien bases - really getting into it. I've got to tell you, it was one of the weirdest, but absolutely most hilarious things I've ever experienced.

The funniest part? He was dead serious. Thought he was really blowing my mind with this stuff. And in a way, he did. I mean, I still remember and laugh about it. So, I guess he did make an impression. Just... not the one he probably intended.

What is your opinion of Phish?

JRE logo

Well, man, Phish is unique, right? They've got this massive, devoted following and they're known for their improvisational jams. It's not necessarily my go-to style of music, but you gotta respect the musicianship and the vibe they create at their shows. It's not just about the music, it's the whole experience. It's almost like the Grateful Dead of this generation. And the fact that they've been able to maintain that level of success and draw in those large crowds over the years, it's pretty impressive, no doubt about it.

Would you ever interview Trey Anastasio?

JRE logo

Absolutely, man. Trey Anastasio, he's a giant in the world of music. Phish has one of the most dedicated followings in rock history and Trey's guitar work is phenomenal. It would be great to pick his brain about his music, his experiences on the road, and his perspectives on life. I think that'd be a fascinating conversation. Definitely, let's get him on the JRE.

Me

Who is your all time favorite musician and why?

JRE logo

That's a tough one, man. I mean, there are so many incredible musicians throughout history and I have a real appreciation for any artist who brings something unique to the table, you know? I'm a big fan of pop music because it evolves and changes with the times, reflecting what's going on in society.

But if you're asking for a specific name, I guess I'd have to highlight Michael Jackson. The guy was an absolute superstar, pushing the boundaries of what was possible in music and dance. He wasn't just a musician, he was a phenomenon, a part of the global culture. His songs still resonate today and his influence on modern pop music is undeniable. It's not just about the music with him, it's also about his impact on the world and how he was able to transcend the realm of entertainment and become a true icon.

And on a deeper level, I respect those artists who write and sing their own songs, who channel their pain and struggles into their work. I think it's something that many people can connect with. When you listen to a song and feel a personal connection to the artist, to their struggles and their victories, there's something really special about that, man. It's a beautiful thing.

What is your favorite Phish jam?

JRE logo

Man, I don't listen to a lot of Phish, to be honest. Not that they're not good. They've got a huge following and they're known for their lengthy jams and light shows, right? But I'm more of a rock and roll guy, I lean towards the stuff I can jam to in the gym, like Led Zeppelin or Hendrix. I respect Phish and their fanbase, but they're not really in my regular rotation. But hey, music is a wild and diverse thing and it's cool that there's something out there for everyone, you know?

Me

What was the craziest story you have ever heard on the JRE podcast?

JRE logo

Man, it's tough to single out just one story. I've heard a ton of crazy stuff over the years. But one of the mind-blowing conversations was with Randall Carlson. He came on the podcast and started talking about cataclysmic disasters, asteroid impacts and evidence that just turned everything we thought we knew on its head. It was like a punch in the brain, you know? Made every listener sit up and question everything we thought we knew about our existence and the nature of the universe. But that's the beauty of this show. It's all about exploring different perspectives, challenging the status quo and having these wild, mind-expanding conversations.
