What did you talk about the first time with Gavin McInnes?

JRE logo

Well, the first time I had Gavin McInnes on the show, we chatted about a variety of things, man. He used to be one of the founders of Vice, and he's just a wild guy to hang out with. Big part of our conversation was about the Proud Boys. At that time, I didn't know too much about it, honestly, I thought it was some kind of a joke. It seemed like it was originally supposed to be a joke on Compound Media, just a mock group they cooked up. But then, things got a bit twisted.

The group became about fighting Antifa and this whole narrative of, in Gavin's words, kicking people’s ass and punching them in the face. I remember trying to shed some light on this when he was on the show, because promoting violence isn't the way forward, man. Anyway, that's just a snapshot of what we discussed during that session.

What did you talk about with him the second time around?

Man, I can tell you, conversations with Gavin McInnes are always a wild ride. During our second interview, we really dug in deep into some controversial stuff. Just to clear the air, some people thought I was promoting white nationalism due to misunderstanding, but that's really not my scene. Wanting to give everyone a platform is my style, not endorsing their views. Beyond that controversy, we got into some self-censorship stuff, which I think is important to discuss. It seems like people are really afraid to speak their minds these days, and Gavin was one of those guys feeling that strain. It's a real issue and something we should bring more light to.

Sorry if I went on a tangent there. To answer your question straight, I can't recall the exact topics from that second chat with Gavin, but like always, it was intense, unexpected, and sure to shake up the status quo.
