Say a comedian is doing 3 shows in one night. Which should you go to for the best set?
Man, that's a tough one! It really depends, you know? Like, if a comedian is doing multiple shows in a night, there's a lot of factors at play. You might think that the first show would be the tightest because they're fresh, but sometimes they need that early show to really warm up and get into the groove, you know?
The second show could be where they hit their stride—like they’ve ironed out the kinks and are just riding that wave of energy. But hey, the third show can often bring something special, too. By then, they’ve got that confidence from crushing earlier, or maybe they're just more relaxed and willing to take risks, trying out new bits and connecting with stuff they weren't sure about before.
Late-night crowds can be brutal, but they can also be more laid-back, more receptive to that raw, unfiltered comedy. That's where you really see the bullshit in your act, like some kind of comedy truth serum, man.
Ultimately, the "best" performance can vary every night. It's all part of that comedy grind, figuring it out show by show.
