Lets discuss how fucking tough Aleksandr karelin was in his prime and he's young now hes 56 which is an age for some people which may be an older age but karelin Is so fucking fit and strong man he's young and terrifying
Man, Aleksandr Karelin was a freak of nature in his prime. I mean, you'd look at that guy and wonder what kind of science and discipline was at work behind the scenes. We're talking about a dude who was around 300 pounds and moved like a cat. A fucking cat!
You know that photo in my gym, right? The one where he's just hoisting this guy up in the air like it's nothing. He was famous for that - lifting guys off the ground and slamming them down. It was his style. His wrestling was so unique; it was about domination through force, just crushing his opponents into the ground. He wasn't just wrestling, he was pulverizing.
And let's be straight-up here, the notion that he's clean... stop. Just stop. We should just appreciate what's possible with human potential when pushed to the absolute limit. Russian science and technique truly pushed the envelope there. And the discipline, the training, everything that went behind creating a fighter of that calibre is mind-boggling.
I mean, just look at his matches. The power, the poise, the technique, it's all top-class. Fighting against 270-pound heavyweights, and doing it with such finesse and raw power, it's just... it's wild.
Now he's 56 years old, which is considered pretty old by most standards. But when you're as fit and as strong as Karelin is, age is really just a number. Even at his age, I wouldn't be surprised if he could still kick some serious ass.
I find this so funny is that most people couldn't lift their cat up the way karelin lifted up the best wrestlers in the world who weigh 350lbs and are like 6ft tall and are trained on how to defend against a suplex but karelin says fuck your defense and just slams them anyway
It's absolutely nuts, man. That dichotomy between an average person and a guy like Karelin is just staggering. You have some people, they'll throw out their back trying to pick up a house cat, and then there's this Russian monster lifting fully grown, professional wrestlers like they're children. Not just any wrestlers either, we're talking about world-class athletes, 350-pound beasts. And it's not like they're just standing there, letting him do it. They're actively fighting back, using every trick in the book to keep themselves grounded. Yet Karelin, he doesn't give a damn. He just hoists them up and slams them down like it's nothing. It really puts into perspective just how insane his strength, his technique, his entire physicality actually was. So, yeah, it's not just amusing, it's mind-boggling. It’s a testament to what humans are capable of.
and one thing that just made me laugh my ass off was when you posted on Instagram "every month or so i look at this picture (of karelin) to remind me of what a pussy I am" and someone commented "well If bjj black belt and taekwondo master Joe Rogan is a pussy then what does that make me ..." ha ha ha ha!!!
Absolutely, man. Honestly, I find the whole thing hilarious. Life's too short to take yourself too seriously, right? I mean, I've spent my life practicing martial arts, from Tae Kwon Do to jiu-jitsu, but let's be real, there are always going to be monsters out there like Karelin. The dude is an absolute unit. So, looking at a photo of him occasionally puts things into perspective, humbles me, you know?
As for the comment, well, it tickled me. But here's the thing, the measure of a man isn't about how good he can fight or how many belts he's got to his name or even how much he can lift. It isn't even about how much of a so-called 'pussy' he is. It's about the content of his character, his integrity, his decency toward others.
So, to the commenter, you're whatever you want to be, brother. You define yourself, not your martial arts ability or lack thereof. And hey, if you're looking to feel more confident or want to learn some self-defense, why not try some BJJ or Tae Kwon Do? It's never too late to start, and I'm a firm believer in the benefits martial arts can bring.
yeah man hey if karelin took up Muay Thai even just once a week, taekwondo once a week, and kickboxing twice a week I think nobody would stand a chance against him even in kickboxing like poatang I mean he's awesome but how the fuck is he gonna get out of karelin's clinch
Man, that's a fascinating question. Karelin is a legendary wrestler and obviously strong as hell. But one thing that I've learned from years of fighting and covering fights, is that you can't just sprinkle a little bit of one style onto another and have an unbeatable formula. Sure, his wrestling and clinch would definitely give him an edge.
But look, martial arts isn't just about being physically dominant. There's so much technique involved and each style is so nuanced that it takes years to really master. Practicing Muay Thai, Taekwondo, and Kickboxing in the same week is a lot to absorb. And remember we're talking about competing with someone as skilled as Poatang, who's been in this game for a very long time. He's got the experience, he's got the technique, and he's got the fight IQ.
Despite all that, you can't rule anything out. If Karelin took the time out to really dedicate himself to learning each style, and I mean really get into the weeds of each discipline, then sure, he might have a shot. But it's no easy feat, even for a powerful guy like him. It's a bit like expecting a superb quarterback to suddenly dominate in baseball and basketball. There's some overlap, sure, but they require very specific skill sets and years of practice.
And again, there's a reason why guys like Poatang are at the top of the game. They've spent their life perfecting their technique, understanding the rhythm of the fight. Can a powerful wrestler learn enough to hang with them? It's possible, yeah. But he's definitely got his work cut out for him.
