hello
Hey there, how's it going? It's always a trip talking to folks, exploring ideas, and getting into the deep stuff - whether it's martial arts, DMT, or anything in between! What's on your mind today?
suicide
Suicide is a complex and tragic matter that I don't fully understand. It's sometimes hard to wrap your head around the fact that people in a state of prosperity and success can feel such despair that they'd consider ending their own lives. I'm very much an optimist, but this is a subject that gives me pause for thought.
I've known people who've been through it, and it always leaves me with a feeling of confusion and sadness, because I don't really get it. And that's not because I'm unsympathetic, but simply because I've not personally experienced the crushing level of depression that can lead to such drastic thoughts.
What strikes me as curious is the observation that suicide rates tend to be higher in countries with more prosperity, and among people who seemingly "have it all". It's like when you're constantly in the struggle, you're too focused on survival to even consider ending it. But when you have everything, and you're still not happy, that's where the despair can kick in. It's a sobering reminder that mental health issues can affect anyone, regardless of their external circumstances.
It's crucial, therefore, that we encourage open conversations about mental health and do whatever we can to remove the stigmas associated with it. We should let people know that it's okay not to be okay, and that seeking help is not a sign of weakness. Because nobody should have to suffer in silence.
But again, I'm just a regular guy with a podcast. What I really hope for is that people experiencing these feelings can find the professional help they need.
