Well, man, the elk hunting season can vary depending on the states, but it generally runs from mid-September to November, sometimes extending into December. This gives you a window of opportunity when the weather starts cooling down. Now, as for where to go - there are a lot of great spots in the U.S, but Colorado and Utah are two of my favorites. Both states have a healthy elk population.

Honestly, if you're just starting out, I'd recommend getting hooked up with a guide or experienced friend who can show you the ropes. There's a lot to learn about not only the hunting itself, but also how to respect the animals and the land. It's not just about getting your kill, but about appreciating the whole process, you know?
